The embattled Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Adewale Omirin, has been impeached.
Hon Dele Olugbemi, has been elected new Speaker. He was a member of All Progressive Congress (APC) before his recent announcement of defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Incidentally,the seven PDP lawmakers and three unidentified persons were the set of legislators that sat at the floor of the assembly on Monday during the ratification of the three commissioner nominees sent to the House by the governor, Ayo Fayose on Monday
Subsequently,Hon Dele Olugbemi Ikole constituency 1 was elected the new speaker of the assembly,while Hon Abeni Olayinka,representing Ado constituency 2 emerged as the Deputy Speaker of the House.
Journalists were initially barred from the House proceeding,however,it was gathered that the motion for the impeachment of the speaker was moved by Hon Samuel Ajibola,representing Ekiti East Constituency 1 and who equally emerged as the leader of Government Business.
While the motion was supported by Hon Alexander Adeojo,representing Ekiti South-West constituency 2 in the assembly.
