Angry protesters have pulled down the gate of the National Assembly in Abuja

In Abuja, a group of protesters, led by Organised Labour leaders Joe Ajaero from the Nigeria Labour Congress and Festus Osifo from the Trade Union Congress, expressed their anger at the National Assembly.

They initially requested the security officials to open the gates so they could voice their grievances peacefully.

However, when the security officials did not comply, the protesters grew more frustrated and eventually tore down the gates, storming into the assembly complex to air their displeasure.

Meanwhile, in Lagos, members of the Nigeria Labour Congress gathered at the Lagos State Assembly complex to protest. As tensions rose, operatives from the Department of State Services were seen on the premises of the complex, monitoring the situation. The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, attempted to address the protesters and appealed for calm during the demonstration.
