Suarez: There Is No Real Secret To My Successful Combination With Sturridge

One attacking pair in the English Premier League which has been a thorn in the fleshes of so many defenders this season has been that of Uruguayan, Luis Suarez and English boy, Daniel Sturridge.

Both players have had 45 goals already between them this season but Suarez has revealed to FourFourTwo that there is really no secret or explanation to their successful combination for Liverpool. Suarez however revealed that the success of Sturridge has made defenders not to concentrate solely on him.

He also praised the English forward who he admits cheers him up often when he speaks Portuguese.

“There’s no real secret,”
“The best thing is that defences aren’t only looking at what Suarez is doing.
“We create space for each other and for our team-mates to take advantage of. If we’re marked then it means someone else isn’t.
“Daniel’s a great guy, always making me, Lucas [Leiva] and Philippe [Coutinho] laugh by speaking in our languages.
“There were lots of Brazilians at Chelsea so his Portuguese isn’t bad, actually. He should do well at the World Cup because he already knows the language.”

Lagos – A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Thursday sentenced a landlord, Samuel Olofin, 60, to six months imprisonment, but allowed him to go home, having spent more than a year in prison custody.

Mrs O. Olajuwon, the Magistrate, said that Olofin’s discharge was in view of the fact that he had been in prison custody for the past one year since his arraignment.

She said evidence was established against the convict and was found guilty as charged.

Olofin, a landlord, was found guilty of assaulting his tenant by hitting him with a padlock on his forehead.

The convict was arraigned on Jan. 27, 2013 on a charge of assault.

When the trial started, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N40, 000 with a surety in like sum which he never perfected throughout his period under custody.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Gabriel Ekundayo, had told the court that Oloifin had on Jan. 24, 2013 at No. 46, Sanya St., Aguda, Surulere, assaulted his tenant, Mr Nnanna Nnalue.

He also said that the convict wanted Nnalue to vacate his house and when an argument ensued between them, Olofin used a padlock and hit him on the forehead.

7,390 Nigerians Were Repatriated From Foreign Countries In 2013

NAN

Mr David Parradang, the Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service, on Thursday in Abuja said 7,390 Nigerians were repatriated from foreign countries in 2013.

Parradang made this known when he fielded questions from journalists at the Immigration headquarters in Abuja.

He said that government carried out the repatriation because many Nigerians abroad could not make ends meet and had no source of income which made living difficult while others were in countries being ravaged by conflicts.

He said that due to these difficulties, the service succeeded in preventing 106,739 Nigerians travelling out the country in 2013 in search of the proverbial “greener pastures abroad”.

He said that in the same year the service also denied some 150, 840 foreigners entry into the country because they did not meet necessary requirements for entry into the country.

The comptroller-general said that to account for the presence and activities of immigrants in the country, the service had introduced a robust mechanism for internal monitoring and control of immigrants.

“We have introduced a new Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC), which has enhanced security features to help us track all foreigners who move in and out of the country.

“Every foreigner must have this card if he/she wants to be in Nigeria as it would enable us know where they are and what they are doing at all times,” he said.

He noted that in an effort to address the country’s porous borders, the service was introducing a special border patrol corps.

The Immigration service boss said the patrol corps was made up of 1000 immigration officers who had been specially trained and equipped with the right regimentation and technology to ensure better border patrol management and policing.

Parradang said that the service had continued to receive cooperation from security agencies including the military in an effort to get rid of illegal immigrants who were a security risk to the country.

“We need to secure our borders and we are working to achieve it. We have the ideas and the desire, we know what to do and we are currently focusing on that,” he added.

Parradang said that although 37 officers had lost their lives due to insurgency activities in various parts of the country, the service would continue to work closely with other agencies to end the attacks.

He noted that the service had a zero tolerance for corruption and emphasised that officers who receive bribe in line of duty would be relieved of their jobs.

He denied some media reports that there had been 100 per cent increase in passport fees.

The comptroller-general said that the service had only increased the number of pages on the passport booklet to accommodate persons who travel often.

APC Manifesto, A Product Of Janjaweed Ideology- PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the manifesto which the All Progressives Congress (APC) released today as a product of a Janjaweed ideology, a roadmap to anarchy which is typical of all anti-democratic coalitions. ” The manifesto lacks character, depth and completely addressed no issue.”

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh said the manifesto which ranked security of lives and property low and gave no clue as to its preparedness to tackle terrorism was a tacit acknowledgment that the APC may be benefiting from the mayhem and knows more than meet the eyes about the spate of terror attacks in the country .

“When last year in its first official outing, the leaders of the APC said terrorism in Nigeria would disappear within 100days of APC leadership, Nigerians did ask if they knew the characters in crime and their sponsors . APC gave silence as an answer while Nigerians kept wondering. Today, the Party has released its manifesto with loud silence on the matter so that Nigerians would not raise further questions on the face behind the terrorism mask.”

Taking the APC to task on job creation and war on corruption which the party projected as cardinal on its manifesto, the PDP said the APC has no credible
recipe for job creation nor has it shown the strength of character to fight corruption more than the PDP does at the moment.

“The PDP created anti corruption agencies- the ICPC, the EFCC and established the Freedom of Information Act to further give teeth to the war on graft. The PDP led federal government has also shown no preferences in its battle on corruption as senior party leaders as well relations have at one time or another been made to face the law on charges of corruption.”

” On the contrary , the leaders of the APC are the grand patrons of corruption as could be seen from the South West APC states where a kilometer of road is awarded at N1 billion in a topography that compares no where to the marshy South South and where the self styled leader imperially superintendents the finances of six states with mind boggling cases of corruption. ”

” The spirited defence for the suspended Central Bank Governor mounted by the APC was because the leaders of the party benefited immensely from the regime of sleaze that took place under Sanusi. A fraudulent 84 billion contract was awarded to a leader of the party while another 5billion Naira was paid to another stalwart of the party as consultancy fee. ”

According to the PDP nothing showcases the anti-democratic ambience of the APC than its inability to conduct a properly constituted congresses and convention to elect its substantive officers almost a year after formation, clearing stating that ” the strange bed fellows have merged but the structures are refusing to integrate, hence , crisis and disagreements in its ranks. ”

” This disagreements played out on the high table today at the party ‘s summit as one of its leaders , Sen. Modu Sherif pointedly accused the leadership and the organizers of excluding and marginalizing a section of its founders. With persistent in-fighting at this cradle, how does APC hope unify Nigerians and guarantee the survival of democracy ,” the PDP asked.

The PDP further described as tissue of lies, the claim by the APC that it was the first party to lunch a code of conduct.

” In 2006, the PDP launched a comprehensive code of conduct under an ominibus entitled “Survival Kit.” This kit contained documents such as Desirable Qualities Of A Member and Code of Conduct for PDP aspirants and candidates . ”

” We also have the Peoples Democratic Institute, an intellectual arm of the party whose major work is the systemic research, inculcation and internalization of democratic ethos.”

The PDP further said the recent opinion poll which the APC said it derived its manifesto is a familiar product from political party that subsists in lies and deception.

“They sponsored same in Anambra and their governorship candidate , Chris Ngige came a distant third. This is after they sponsored same in Ondo where its candidate in the governorship election, Rotimi Akeredolu also came third.”

The statement further warned that the unseen thrust of the APC manifesto is to balkanize Nigeria and cause disaffection among the people, citing the deportation of Nigerians from Lagos by an APC governor.

Boko Haram: Defence HQ Frowns At Inflammatory Comments By Persons In Govt

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has noted with grave concern the inflammatory pronouncements by some highly placed persons in government and some apparently sponsored commentators in and outside the country who have consistently given false and misleading remarks to describe the disposition of troops in the ongoing operations.

The statement by Major General Chris Olukolade, Director Defence Information noted that it has become clear that the sustained campaign is intended to demoralize the troops and give impression that the military is overwhelmed by the terrorist group.

“This tendency is unfortunate to say the least.”

Olukolade Thursday added, that for the avoidance of any doubt, it is hereby restated that the Nigerian military cannot by any standard be overwhelmed by the insurgents neither will the devious antics of their sympathisers and sponsors demoralize the fighting spirit of troops.

“Nigerians and indeed all well-wishers are enjoined to discountenance the propaganda messages of the terrorists and their backers alleging the inability of Nigerians troops to handle the insurgency.”

Meanwhile, it stated that attempts by terrorists to attack Ajiri and Mafa as well as other communities in the outskirt of Maiduguri and Dikwa in Borno State towards the Cameroon borders, yesterday were foiled by the security forces. The ambush mounted by the terrorists to enable them unleash terror on the communities unchallenged, was also cleared by troops on reinforcement mission.

“Arms captured from the terrorists include various brands of machine guns and improvised explosive devices.”

The defence headquarters added that twenty insurgents died in the encounter, while own troops sustained varying degree of injuries.

Mourinho Reveals Real Madrid Players Were More Interested In Their Looks Than Soccer

Former Real Madrid manager and current Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho has put his former players at Madrid on a blast.
He revealed that his players at Madrid where he spent three years were more interested in their looks than they were in winning trophies.
Jose told Esquire that the players enjoyed staring at themselves a lot in the mirror.

“Lots of times at Real Madrid, the players would be queuing in front of the mirror before the game while the referee waited for them in the tunnel,”
“But that’s how society is now. Young people care a lot about this: they are twenty-something and I am 51 and if I want to work with kids I have to understand their world.

“I’m a manager since 2000, so I’m in my second generation of players.

“What I feel is that before, players were trying to make money during their career, be rich at the end of their career.

“But, in this moment, the people who surround them try to make them rich before they start their career.”

‘The Happy One’ won one La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and a Supercopa de Espana at Madrid.

Inter Milan Plan Kagawa’s Rescue

Inter Milan President, Eric Thohir seems really dedicated to his promise of strengthening the Italian side ahead of next season if the reportsfrom Italian newspaper, Tuttosport is true. The newspaper reports that Inter Milan is set to capture Manchester United’s Japanese star,  Shinji Kagawa after sealing a deal for Nemanja Vidic few days back.

The out-of-favour Japanese has been linked with Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund in the past but the interest from Inter if true is expected to appeal to Kagawa who appears frustrated at Old Trafford. Just before his country beat New Zealand 4-2 in an international friendly this week, Kagawa spoke to the Japan Times about his current fate at Manchester United:

“Of course it is important for a player to continue getting games, but there is not much I can do about my situation,”

“It is something that I won’t be able to gain unless I am delivering results. I can’t change the situation I’m in, so I want to turn it into something positive and do well [against New Zealand].”

Do you think Inter will be able to prise Kagawa away from Old Trafford

Inter President, Thohir Promises More Marquee Signings Ahead Of Next Season

Italian giants, Inter Milan completed the signing of Nemanja Vidic this week ahead of next season’s campaign but that’s not all from the Milan-based side.

Inter’s President, Erick Thohir has made it clear that the Nerazzuris will be further strengthened in the summer with more key signings

Inter Milan had earlier secured the services of Hernanes from Lazio in the winter window and have sealed a free transfer deal which will see Manchester United’s defender, Nemanja Vidic move to the Guiseppe Meazza in the Summer.

The Indonesian President of Inter has gone ahead to promise fans more marquee signings before the 2014/2015 campaign kicks off

“We might add a few players for next season. We’re building a team for the next few years,” Thohir was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“With Hernanes I think we have leadership in the middle. With Vidic we have a leader in the defence.

“I think we need to create stability in the team but I think by next season the average age of the team will be 26.5 years old.

“The most important thing, as I keep saying, is to balance the ages and also balance the positions.”
