Libya is an African country with the largest proven oil reserve. The country is officially known as the State of Libya.

Late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, a Libyan revolutionary, politician and political theorist who ruled Libya from 1969 until his assassination in 2011 by rebel forces.

It is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. It borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Egypt to the east, Sudan to the southeast, Chad to the south, Niger to the southwest, Algeria to the west, and Tunisia to the northwest.

  1. Population: The population of Libya is estimated at 6.735 million.
  2. Land size: Libya’s land has a total area of 1,759,540 km² (679,362 mi²) and a total coastline of 1,770 km (1,099.8 mi). It is one of the largest countries in Africa and the 17th biggest in the world.
  3. Most popular occupation: In 2019, the majority of the people employed in Libya had elementary occupations or were skilled agricultural, forestry, and fishery workers.
