Nigeria’s Lagos beats Singapore, Miami, Dubai to rank 19th best city in the world — See full list

Nigeria’s commercial hub and most populated city in Africa, Lagos, has been ranked 19th on the list of best cities in the world.

The list compiled by TimeOut, a British British Media and Hospitality company, ranked New York City as number 1 in the world, followed by Cape Town.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Lagos was ranked 19th ahead of Singapore, Miami, Dubai, and San Francisco, among others.

Lagos (Nigeria), Cape Town (South Africa), and Accra (Ghana) are the only African cities featured in the list.

Among things considered in the ranking are “buzzing neighbourhoods, affordable food and drink and a mighty selection of things to do, from art galleries and museums to live music and theatre…happiness of its locals, access to green space and strong community vibes”.

TimeOut described Lagos thus; “Whether you’re a staunch mainlander or from Lekki, there’s something for everyone in Lagos, Africa’s most populous city. Posh Victoria Island continues to deliver a trifecta of swanky resorts, food haunts, and nightlife.
