0

This is arguably one very great Nigerian video as Davido drops the flashy lifestyle for a video with a rich Nigerian content. Davido’s fourth single off his forthcoming sophomore album is directed by Clarence Peters. The video is shot in a rural setting and tells a tale of love between different classes.
Davido plays a poor farmer who falls in love with the prince’s love interest. Aye shows Davido at his best, showing raw talent in a different direction, cultural, and entirely refreshing.

Actress, Uche Iwuji’s Marriage Crumbles

The  marriage of Juwon Lawal to Nollywood actress, Uche Iwuji has come to an end. This has been confirmed by their publicist.

Speculations have been rife in the past months that the marriage was troubled but the couple put it off as just mere rumours.

The statement below confirms the sad break-up

“This should serve as the official statement confirming the end to the marriage formalized on Friday, November 16th 2012 between the CEO of ABD Fuels Plc, Mr. Juwon Rasak Lawal and actress Uche Iwuji.

Already, the court processes are on to give a legal seal to the separation.

Mr. Lawal was in Europe on a business tour when the story first broke through the media. This was the reason why he could not react appropriately to it, plus the fact that he felt the event could be redeemed.

Although, he would not want to talk about the reasons for the separation, Mr. Lawal is not married anymore to Miss Iwuji. And he will like to treat his estranged wife’s case as “once a friend, always a friend.”

Nat’l Conference: 20 Political Parties Protest Exclusion From Nominating Delegates

20 political parties are aggrieved by the decision of the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue approving only parties with members at the national assembly to participate in the forth coming national conference.

The national chairman of Progressive Peoples Alliance, Mr. Peter Ameh, Friday condemned the decision and vowed to go to court to protest their exclusion from nominating delegates to the national conference, despite satisfying all the necessary conditions.

Addressing journalist, the parties led by Ameh said they had received the mandate of other parties for PPA to sue for itself and on behalf of others.

Ameh said PPA was the platform on which ex-Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State. He stated that Governor Theodore Orji of Abia state as well as Senator Uche Chukwumerije contested and won elections before defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Also, the man currently representing Ekenemo 2 State Constituency, Victor Prezi of Bayelsa State House of Assembly is a member of the party, he said.

“Our party has satisfied every provision to be part of the conference. One of the conditions is that a party must have a NWC, National Executive Committee with Headquarters in Abuja and we have State and Ward Executives.”

“If you want to go by the provision of Section 78 (2) of the Electoral Act (as amended), our party has also satisfied that condition because it does not require that a man must win House of Representatives election for us to become a parliamentary party.

“The State House of Assembly is also a parliamentary election. We have a member in Bayelsa State House of Assembly who came in the 2011 election. There has snot been any election in which we have failed. We have participated in the governorship elections in Sokoto and Ondo states and other elections. That can be verified from Independent National Electrical Commission.”

“We will use every lawful means to be able to ensure that members of our party will not be oppressed in a very unjustly manner.” Ameh lamented.

January 2014: Apapa Customs Command Generates N19bn

The Apapa Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday in Lagos said it generated N19 billion revenue in January.

The Comptroller of the command, Mr Charles Edike, said in a statement that the revenue generated in January dropped from the N20.2 billion realised in December, 2013.

Edike said that revenue collected for the Federation Account was N9.3 billion, while N9.5 billion was collected for the non-Federation Account in January.

He said that the revenue was realised from the payment of duty on imported sugar, wheat grain, wheat flour, levy on iron, seven per cent port levy and other taxes.

Edike said that the 20 per cent duty collected on rice importation during the period was N30.9 million against N1 million generated from the source in December, 2013.

He said N235 million was generated from the Negotiable Duty Credit Certificate (NDCC) during the period, while N10 million was realised from the seven per cent charge on NDCC.

NAN reports that the NDCC is a payment document for the importation of raw materials.
