The news of child prodigies is not new anymore, as kids are breaking records and setting bars beyond their age.

The latest on the radar is David Balogun, a nine-year-old Nigerian kid born in Pennsylvania who has become one of the youngest known graduates to graduate high school.

One kid who had achieved this feat before David is Michael Kearney, who still holds the Guinness world record for the youngest high school graduate. He set the record in 1990 when he was six before obtaining a master’s degree at 14.

Another kid who has achieved this level of genius is Joshua Beckford, a Nigerian kid born in London who entered Oxford University at six and graduated from the Department of History and Philosophy at the premature age of 14.

David Balogun was born to Henry and Ronya Balogun, who own an outpatient psychiatric clinic they run together. They discovered their son started showing interest in science and computer programming.

His parent also noted that David was always inquisitive and ‘extremely curious about knowing things.’

Shortly after the pandemic in 2020, The couple who lived in Bensalem enrolled their son at the Harrisburg-based Reach Cyber Charter School, where he started taking online classes focusing on STEM subjects. David Balogun finished with over a 4.0 GPA less than three years later.

The young genius is full of dreams and aspirations, as stated in one of his interviews with WGAL, a local TV station, he said, “I want to be an astrophysicist, and I want to study black holes and supernovas,”

His parents are yet to choose the university they want to enrol him in. The young prodigy won’t receive his diploma until June 2023.

David has also won the Distinguished Student Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Gifted Education in 2022.

David also has other interests, as he is working towards earning his black belt in martial arts.
