Social media reacts to Oxlade‘s Epic Records deal despite viral sex tape

Nigerian singer Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, stage name ‘Oxlade’, just weeks after being involved in awakes sextape scandal, has bagged a record deal with Epic Records, founded by Columbia Records, which Sony Music owns. 

He shared this via his twitter page on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in a tweet. 

Some Twitter users are not exactly impressed with this move, as they are comparing him situation with that of to Tiwa Savage. 

Daniel Regha, a Twitter influencer, made a short comment on the double standards in the industry, citing how a man is applauded for a sex tape but a woman has to be punished for it.

His tweet reads “Oxlade got signed to Columbia Records UK after his sex scandal, whereas Tiwa Savage reportedly lost multiple endorsement deals after hers; What a world.” 

“Don’t mean to be a killjoy but this alone promotes gender bias in today’s society & it’s appalling to say the least. No shades.”

Another Twitter user chimed in with the same thought, asking that the bias be curbed 

That tweet reads “Oxlade got signed to Columbia Records UK after his sex scandal. Tiwa Savage reportedly lost couple of endorsement deals after her sex tape was released.”

“I’m not saying we shouldn’t celebrate the new achievement by spiderman of lagos, but we need to break the bias in this world.”

In response to his tweet, a Twitter user mentioned that some women falsely accuse men of rape and they get away with it. 

He even went as far as stating that women in Ukrainian have the option to leave the country amidst the current crisis, while the men are forced to stay and fight. 

That tweet reads “Ready to break the bias of how women walk away freely from falsely accusing men of rape?

Ready to break bias of how women in Ukraine are given the option to leave the country while men are forced to stay to defend the country?

Or you just wanna cap for validation?”
