The Commissioner of Police in Abuja, Joseph Mbu, on Monday announced a ban on all protests, in the Nigerian capital, to demand freedom for the over 250 schoolgirls kidnapped in Chibok Borno State, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Mr. Mbu’s announcement comes days after persons, suspected to be pro-government supporters with name tag ‘release our girls’ attacked the ‘Bring back our protesters’ protests in Abuja.

The Information Minister, Labaran Maku, had last week wednesday announced that 90% of the protesters were sponsored by the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC. In the same vein, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan had asked the protesters to go and protest to the terrorists and protest over the abducted school girls as it’s obtained world over.

More details of the protest ban to come shortly.
