Cherubim & Seraphim Church Insists Viral Nude Photos Of Their Apostle Is Blackmail

Recently, the nude photo of Apostle Timothy Adewoye, the district Chairman, Idimu sub headquarters of the Holy order of Cherubim and Seraphim movement church, Lagos state went viral online. The church has come out to say it was all a blackmail.

According to Senior Apostle Abimbola Esuola, the 80 years old apostle was attacked and stripped by four men while he had gone to pray for a female member of the church in her home. While speaking to press men, Esuola revealed that the men had demanded for 10million Naira from the apostle or he would risk having the photos put online. According to Esuola, Adewoye paid 2.15 million Naira but his blackmailers kept on asking for more money but when he could not take it anymore, he revealed what had happened to his secretary who gathered some other church members and had the case reported to the Idimu police station.

The suspected blackmailers are said to have also blackmailed a prominent banker in similar fashion. Detectives went after the suspects and were able to arrest only Sherifat Balogun (a female member of the church who had a similar case being investigated already) and a certain Makanjuola Olagunja. Three others fled.

At the Ejigbo magistrate court yesterday, the police filed charges against Balogun and Olagunja in suit No. MM/E/7/2014. Olagunja and Balogun both of Akowonjo area of Lagos State, are facing a six?count charge of conspiracy, assault, threatening violence, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
The court remanded Balogun and Olagunja in prison for blackmail.
The prosecutor in the person of ASP Nicholas Atumonye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 13, 2013 at 11, Shagari Estate, Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos State. He  said the accused conspired with the others who have now fled to assault Prophet Adewoye by forcefully pulling off his clothes and taking nude shots of him.
He said the accused threatened to publish the nude pictures of the prophet and unlawfully obtained N2.150 million from him to prevent the publication of the pictures. He also revealed that the accused threatened the life of their victim by demanding for money through several phone calss.
Those offences contravened Sections 56, 170, 285, 312 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 according to him as Section 312 even stipulates 15 years imprisonment for convicted offenders.
The charges were denied by the accused but the prosecutor objected to bail for the accused since their gang members were still at large. The case was adjourned  by the magistrate, Mrs. M.B. Folami to consider the request of the accused for bail.

Court Arraign NYSC Members In Asaba For Homosexual Act

By Kola Eke Ogiugo

Four male National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Asaba, Delta State (names withheld) have been arraigned at an Asaba Magistrates’ Court for engaging in homosexual activities with a student.

Three of the corps members who are graduates of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State and one, a graduate of Abia State University, are carrying out their primary assignment at a co-educational school along Nnebisi road, Asaba.

The four accused persons were arraigned on a three count charge of conspiracy and procuring as well as getting hold of their victim.

The prosecutor, Inspector Kingsley Iyoha, told the court that the four accused persons conspired to commit the offence, explaining that one of them procured and got hold of the male student, took him into a room, laid him on a bed and caressed and orally sucked his manhood until the minor released sperm.

The prosecutor who said the offence was committed two weeks ago said it contravened Section 217 and 516 of the Criminal Code and Volume II Laws of Delta State, 2009.

Boko Haram Attack Yobe Hostel, More Than 29 Students Killed #BornoMassacre

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect have attacked and killed some students of the Federal Government College Buni-Yadi in Yobe State north-east Nigeria.

Witnesses said the students were attacked in their hostels at night and slain by the hoodlums instead of the usual gun to avoid the attention of security men within town.

The Federal Government College Buni Yadi is a co-educational institution located some 55 kilometres south of Damaturu the Yobe State capital.

The spokesman of the 3 Special Operation Battalion, Damaturu, Capt Eli Lazarus, who confirmed the assault on the innocent students said the casualty figure is yet to be confirmed because of the destruction of telecom masts in Buni- Yadi by the sect.

However, the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is reporting that about 29 students were slain during the attack while an unknown number burnt to ashes.

The service also reports that the perpetrators of the attack burnt down the school.

Buni Yadi is the capital of Gujba Local Government Area of the state.

Today’s attack is the fourth recorded on schools in Yobe since the commencement of the insurgency as GSS Damaturu, GSS Mamudo and College of Agriculture, Gujba were attacked last year.

“I’m Not Over Chelsea Yet” Ivorian Striker, Didier Drogba Considers A Comeback

By Tom Seymour

The Galatasaray striker would be open to a reunion at Stamford Bridge.

For the first time since 2012, Galatasaray star Didier Drogba will return to Chelsea on Wednesday night when the two clubs go head-to-head in the Champions League.

The striker spent eight years at Stamford Bridge, helping the side to 12 major trophy wins – which included scoring the winning penalty against Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League final.

That was Drogba’s last act for the Blues, before leaving for China and now Turkey, but the 35-year-old says that if Jose Mourinho asked him to come back he would.

“I had a great time at Chelsea. I was there eight years and if Jose Mourinho said ‘I want you to come back’ I’d think about it,” the Ivory Coast international was quoted by the Sun.

“I’m not over Chelsea yet and I don’t want to be.

“People know how much I love the club and the fans.

“I can’t forget what I’ve done there and all the memories. Chelsea will always have a special place in my heart and in my life.”

Drogba has gone down as one of the all time greats in west London after playing 341 times for the club, scoring 157 goals and providing 86 assists.

The forward also has 54 strikes in 75 games for the Ivory Coast, but despite the nation supposedly being one of the most gifted African teams of all time, they are yet to win a major trophy.

Drogba will feature at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with the country, in what is likely to be the final time the soon to be 36-year-old plays in the tournament.

N900 million To Be Spent On Recapitalising Abuja Central Medical Store

NAN

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has approved the sum of N900 million to be spent on recapitalising the territory’s Central Medical Store.

FCT Secretary for Health and Human Services, Dr Demola Onakomaiya, said on Monday in Abuja that the FCTA approved that the fund be spread over a period of three years.

He said this was to ensure that the central store operates in line with the National Drug Distribution Guidelines.

“The approval is also meant to fast track regular supply of quality and cost effective medical supplies to the residents of the FCT,”Onakomaiya said.

The FCT Secretary also said the recapitalisation would reduce the incidence of fake and sub-standard drugs in circulation.

“The store will also be re-organised, in line with the decisions of the 50th National Council on Health held in Abuja in 2006, which will lead to the managerial autonomy of the store,” he said.

Onakomaiya disclosed that the Health Care Waste Management Policy was also approved by the council, saying health care waste had been a public concern.

“Most of the health care workers are prone to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and so many other infections. As a result of this, we have a guideline to follow.’’ he said.

The FCT Secretary lamented that over 100 health care workers in the FCT had contracted diseases such as HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B.

He disclosed that about 60 to 70 per cent of hospitals in the FCT had incinerators, which is one of the components of health care waste management.

Onakomaiya said other hospitals employ the ‘burn and bury’ approach, adding that in the next two quarters of the year every hospital in the FCT would have at least one incinerator.

Nat’l Conference: Revenue Sharing Formula, Creation Of State Police Top Demands By Lagos State

Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Monday in Ikeja met with delegates from the state to the forthcoming National Conference on the agenda of the state for the conference.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the six delegates include a former Federal Commissioner for Works and Housing, Alhaji Femi Okunnu and a former Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr Supo Shasore.

Others are Mr Rabiu Oluwa, Mr Waheed Ayeni, Prof. Tunde Samuel and Mrs Funmilayo Bashorun.

Fashola said at the meeting that the state would present its position on issues affecting it and the country strongly at the conference, with a view to getting solutions to them.

He said that a review of the revenue sharing formula, creation of state police and special status for Lagos State, if considered, would impact positively on the state and also promote national development.

Fashola expressed belief in the ability of the delegates to deliver, as they were accomplished Nigerians who had, over the years, contributed immensely to the country`s development.

“I am confident they would do their best with their knowledge and disposition, I doubt if we can have a better set of people than this,“ he said.

Speaking on behalf of the delegates, Okunnu, thanked the state government for finding them worthy to present the state`s position at the conference.

He promised that the delegates would do their best to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Okunnu said the position of the state on various issues were not too different from those presented at the national conference held during the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He said that the state would also push for independent candidacy in elections, true federalism and a just revenue allocation formula.

According to him, the team will interact with delegates from other states in the South-West geopolitical zone, to forge a common position at the conference which begins in March.

Sanusi’s Removal Increased Forex Demand To $1billion In One Day

Thisday||The naira depreciated against the United States dollar last week as the suspension of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor triggered strong demand for the greenback by offshore investors

The development also saw financial markets reeling. But as a result of the development, the naira slumped against the US dollar in most segments of the forex market despite the central bank’s intervention last Thursday.

The CBN intervened by temporarily shutting down the interbank market on grounds of sudden spike in the exchange rate while also selling dollar directly to banks.

At its regulated Retail Dutch Auction System (RDAS), the central bank offered a total of $1 billion to end users, but sold $906.69 million. The amount sold was 51 per cent higher than the $596.72 million sold the preceding week.

However, the naira maintained its value at the RDAS as it closed at N155.75 to a dollar. The nation’s currency also weakened at the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment by N1 as it closed at N170 to a dollar while it fell by N1 to close at N171.50 to a dollar at the parallel market.

According to a report by Renaissance Capital (RenCap) at the weekend showed that given last Thursday’s suspension of Sanusi as the CBN governor, the interbank forex market predictably opened at N165.10 to a dollar last Friday. That was N2 above last Thursday’s closing levels. The report revealed that trading at the forex market was choppy while quotes were few and far between.

WhatsApp To Launch Voice Calling In The Second Quarter

0

By Samuel Gibbs

WhatsApp is working on adding free voice-calling to its text messaging app for iPhone and Android, which was recently acquired by Facebook for $19bn.

The WhatsApp founder and chief executive, Jan Koum, announced that the new Facebook company was working on voice calling to be introduced into the WhatsApp messaging app, initially on the iPhone and Android in the second quarter of the year, with BlackBerry and Windows Phone to be updated later.

“I grew up in Russia, we had a telephone line, but a load of our neighbours didn’t. It became a shared resource for the whole apartment complex. People would come and knock on the door and ask to call their family in another city,” said Koum at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.

“We’re adding voice to WhatsApp so people can stay in touch with friends and loved ones no matter where they are in the world.”

Koum explained that this is the next stage in the evolution of the WhatsApp service, continuing its mission to connect users and keep people in touch. He also explained that the company had taken the speed and efficiency of text messaging to voice, saying that WhatsApp had the best voice product out there.

“We use the least amount of bandwidth out there, and have optimised the hell out of it. We’ve made sure the quality is there, though, just like the messaging functions of WhatsApp,” said Koum.

Koum also explained that there were no changes planned for the company post Facebook acquisition, and that WhatsApp would be allowed to operate as a standalone company, maintaining its startup mentality with 55 employees, as staying nimble and flexible was of paramount important for survival in the changing industry.

APC Rejects Taraba Bye-Election Result

The Taraba Interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Hassan Ardo, on Monday rejected the outcome of the bye-election into Takum 1 state constituency.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that INEC conducted the poll on February 22 to fill the vacant position created by the death of the former Speaker of state Assembly, Mr Haruna Tsokwa, in November 2013.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had returned the PDP candidate, Mr Daniel Tsokwa, as the winner of the election.

Tsokwa polled 36,070 votes to defeat his APC rival, Mr Musa Danjuma, who clinched 4,479 votes.

Reacting to the conduct of the poll, Ardo told NAN that it was characterised by “massive rigging and manipulation in favour of the ruling PDP”.

He said the party was considering various options, including litigation, to ensure that the anomaly was corrected.

The chairman cited Manya and Chanchangi wards as areas where the elections were not properly conducted.

Ardo said the APC in the state had already briefed its national secretariat on the irregularities and was awaiting further directive.

In his comment, the Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Rules and Business, Mr Samuel Tsokwa (PDP Takum, Ussa and Donga), observed that the bye-election was a litmus test for the 2015 general elections.

According to him, the result is a reflection of how future elections would look like in the state.

He predicted that the APC would “shrink” before the 2015 general election.

“Even at the national level, the APC would perform dismally because their marriage of convenience would soon collapse like a pack of cards,” Tsokwa said.

He said contrary to the position of pessimists, the Takum bye-election was peaceful, free and fair.

BBM Headed To Nokia Devices

0

Today at its Mobile World Congress event, Nokia announced that BlackBerry Messenger will be released in the “coming months” for its Windows Phone devices.

At first, BBM will be exclusive to Nokia’s Lumia devices but will likely be released for all Windows Phone devices after the first six months, just like previous Lumia exclusives.

If Nokia were to pre-install BBM on its Lumia devices it could be a powerful driver of new users to BlackBerry’s messaging service, which the company desperately needs as it struggles to compete with other messaging services such as Line and Whatsapp.
