Actor ‘Peter Fatomilola’: Biography, Education, Career, Marriage, Net Worth, Achievements and Controversy

Biography

Chief Peter Oladele Fatomilola is a traditionalist, poet, actor, and academician.

He was born on the 16th of January 1946 at Ifisin, Ido-Osi, Ekiti state, to Late Chief Abraham Ojo and Mrs Elizabeth Fatomilola.

Peter Fatomilola is a famous movie veteran known to play the role of a traditionalist with a fluent recitation of Ifa panegyrics.

He has also featured in some other English Nollywood movies.

Education

Peter Fatomilola started his education at The Apostolic Primary School, Iwaro Oke, Ilesa, where he had his elementary education. He proceeded to The Apostolic Modern School, Oke Oye, Ilesa, and Ife City Commercial College for his secondary education.

He also headed to Obafemi Awolowo University to bag a degree in Theatre Arts. Peter also possess a diploma in Dramatic Art.

Peter started doing art from home as a kid. He grew up with a father who was an Ifa priest, where he learnt the basics of the Ifa mythology.

In primary school, Peter wrote many playlets from the knowledge he gained from studying Ifa. One of the playlets is titled “Atitebi”.

He also continued in his craft when in secondary school. Peter began to direct plays during this period.

After his secondary education, he worked at Esa Oke Farm Settlement. He founded a drama group, “Ta Ta Ta, Tu Tu Tu.” with other farm labourers.

In one of the group’s presentations, the foremost dramatist and author, Ola Rotimi, noticed Peter’s dexterity and reached out to him to mentor him through the craft.

Professor Ola Rotimi gradually integrated Peter into the university’s drama group. Ola later founded the Ori Olokun Players which Peter was a member.

Peter was assisted in studying at the university by Professor Ola Rotimi. When Ola left for the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Wole Soyinka took Peter under his mentorship.

Peter was shot to prominence when he featured in “Rererun,” a TV play filmed by NTA.

He was the first person to act in the role of  Papa Ajasco, a lead role in a comedy opera produced by Wale Adenuga. 

Chief Peter has acted in over three hundred movies, including Afonja, Oduduwa, Irapada, and Sango.

He is currently the head of Ifa priests in his town.

Controversy

In 2021, Chief Peter was caught in a controversy when he allegedly glorified cyber crime in an interview with BBC Yoruba.

Peter reportedly stated that the white people who had to enslave our forefathers for over 500 years deserved to be duped by Nigerian internet fraudsters.

He further stated that youths indulging in cybercrimes are as a result of the irresponsibilities of the government and society.
