Oscar 2022: Why Will Smith physically assaulted Chris Rock 

American actor and singer, rapper, and film producer Will Smith, professionally known as Willard Carroll Smith II, caused a stir at the 94th Academy Awards On March 28, 2022. 

Jada announced last year, via an Instagram post, that she has been struggling with alopecia, and will be shaving her head down to the scalp. 

She made her medical condition public, and Chris Tock, Last Night, obviously thought it would be nice to poke fun at her.

Chris Rock, an American comedian, came up to present the Award for Best Documentary, when he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s medical condition: Alopecia/sudden hair loss. 

Chris Rock said “Jada, I love ya. ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it, alright?”

Just for reference, G.I Jane is a 1997 movie that didn’t perform well at the box office. It is about a woman ‘Lieutenant Jordan O’Neil’ who joined the not very gender neutral Navy. The character always donned a buzz cut. 

Following his inappropriate joke, Will Smith, after laughing, walked up to Chris Rock, and slapped him. Will then walked back to his chair, sat down, and demanded the comedian keeps his wife’s name out of his mouth.
