Ebonyi gov, Umahi, visits Buhari, announces 2023 presidential ambition
The governor of Ebonyi state, Dave Umahi, has declared his intention to contest for the 2023 presidency.
Umahi revealed his ambition after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammdu Buhari on Tuesday.
This is coming 24 hours after the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also announced his intention after a closed-door meeting with the president.
Tinubu had said; “I have informed the President of my ambition but I have not informed Nigerians yet, I am still consulting”.
Umahi defected to the APC in November last year.
He had said he joined the ruling APC to protect the interest of the South-East in the 2023 elections.
President Buhari at the time also stated that Umahi’s defection to APC was not based on personal gain but on principle.
