APC Governors urge Buhari not to honor National Assembly invitation

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to honor the invitation of the National Assembly.

NewsWireNGR reports that President Buhari was scheduled to appear before and brief lawmakers on the security challenges rocking the country.

But during the National Executive Council of the APC on Tuesday, governors prevailed on the president not to appear before the National Assembly.

 Premium Times reports that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, who moved the motion for the cancellation of the President’s planned address, cited a possibility of unnecessary immitations of such invitation by state assemblies nationwide.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and other governors reportedly backed Akeredolu.

The House of Representatives had asked the president to appear before them to explain what is being done to curb the increasing reports of kidnapping, killings, banditry and violence rocking Nigeria.
