17 year old Juwairiyya Musa Kore, daughter of a member representing Danbatta Constituency at Kano state house of assembly, Murtala Musa Kore, has been kidnapped by unknown men.

Juwairiyya, an SS II student of Government Girls Secondary School, Jogana, was abducted Sunday at her father’s home at Kore village in Danbatta local government, about 40 kilometers away from Kano city.

The lawmaker who confirmed the development to journalists shortly after the incident regretted his daughter fell in the hands of the abductors who actually missed their target while he was away.

Kore revealed that “I just received a call from my brother at home at about 2.30 am that some people came looking for me in my house in the village. And as soon as my daughter came out and told them I was not at home, they decided to take my young daughter away.

“Initially, they had mistaken my elder brother Lawan for me. Sooner one of them realized he was not their target, he was released. Only God knows why they decided to choose my daughter”.

Reacting to why he was convinced the target was him, Kore stressed that the gunmen confessed their mission before his wife and children when they invaded his home.

“They categorically told my wife and children their mission was to kidnap me,” he said.

Although the lawmaker disclosed that he was not yet contacted or requested for any ransom payment, he however claimed the case has been reported to the police

According to journalists from the Guardian, when contacted for response on the abduction, the Police spokesperson in Kano, DSP Abdullahi Haruna was not readily available to reach. Abdullah did not respond to calls and text messages on the development at press time.

Last case of kidnapping was reported in early January, 2020, of district head of Karshi village in Rogo local government area of Kano, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad where about N50 million naira ransom was reportedly paid for his release about 48 hours after.
