Nigerian Islamist militant group, Boko Haram today, during early hours on Wednesday, returned 105 girls kidnapped from a high school compound in Dapchi a few weeks ago.

It is however not clear how much ransom was paid for their release but the Nigerian government had hinted that negotiations was underway to see to the rescue of the girls in a deal similar to the payment of ransom that led to the release of some of the Chibok girls last year.

Multiple sources tell NewsWireNGR that the militant group came with the girls in 9 vehicles same way they took them away.

The five Dapchi girls who were killed were trampled to death in Boko Haram’s overcrowded trucks on the day they were kidnapped, according to villagers.

One of the parents of the girls tells BBC that “the militants brought the girls back and left immediately”.

“Local Journalist have been prevented by security forces from entering Dapchi but wild jubilation could be heard after security convoy was seen entering the town this morning”.. another source says, a journalist from a broadcast media organisation on ground in Yobe tells NewsWireNGR

There was confusion in the area as members of the community scampered into the bush as the terror group appeared in the area, first dropping off one the girls in a nearby village and then driving into the center of Dapchi town to drop off the rest of the girls.

Five of the girls are dead according to our source. It is not clear if the Nigerian government paid any ransom to get the girls released.

Defence Minister on Dapchi Girls

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali had promised that the abducted school girls will be released this week.

‘’We will ensure that whatever means to rescue these girls will be done to get the girls…This type of issue has no timeline. Even if it has, we can only give it (timeline) to the forces, i.e. by these means we want you to give us an output of what you’ve been doing, but for this kind of issues you cannot say by this time you must bring them by so (and) so date’’.
