Buhari Holds Retreat For Ministers Designate As President Insists He Doesn’t Need 36 States Ministers

Estimated Reading Time: <1

President Buhari is scheduled to hold a two-day retreat with the ministers-designate on Thursday and Friday.

A letter to this effect has been dispatched to all the confirmed ministers. The invitation partly read, “I am directed to invite you to a

Presidential retreat with Mr. President and all Hon. ministers-designate from Thursday, November 5 to Friday, November 6.”

The invitation letter was signed by one Mrs Odusote, on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

President Buhari emphasized that his administration would not have 36 ministries because of the economic downturn.

Recieving the list of 36 ministerial nominees confirmed by the Senate from Dr Bukola Saraki, he commended the Senate for a job well done, especially as the National Assembly passed all the names he submitted.

Telling his critics that they cannot stop him from telling the country the truth, he insisted that some of the ministers would stay without portfolio following an economy that has been battered.

The Senate President himself acknowledged the economic challenges facing the country and said that the issue of portfolios should not be trivialized.
