According to several reports floating around the Internet and social media, the final burial rites for the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Sijuwade has been stalled, as the ‘abobaku’ is currently on the run.

Daily Trust reports that in Yoruba tradition, the ‘abobaku’ is someone who is chosen to be buried with the king, as according to customs, an Oba is never buried alone.

Residents of Ile-Ife, Osun State, have been warned to stay indoors between 9am and 4pm tomorrow as the final burial rites for the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, would be performed.

A traditional ruler, the Awara of Iwara-Ife, Oba Layi Adereti, who is also the head of the Oro cult, gave the warning yesterday.
He said the death of the Ooni would be formally announced tomorrow.

Oba Adereti said all residents of the town, whether male or female, must remain indoors during the rites. He said after the announcement of the death, certain rites would be performed, adding that the restriction order was from the palace and appealed to all residents to heed the warning.

“This is an official announcement from the palace of the Awara of Iwara-Ife who is the head of the Oro deity. On Wednesday the 12th of August 2015, there will be an official proclamation of the demise of the Ooni of Ife. The proclamation will be made public during the Oro festival, being the final rites on the demise of the Ooni.

“Residents are therefore urged to keep away from the streets between 9am and 4pm during which the deity will be out. With this announcement, people are advised to stay in-doors”, he said.

Yoruba adage says “If venture to ascertain the population of slaves, slave would be so sad”. Is it not openly clear of the vocal ex Head of State/President Olusegun Obasanjo and his cohorts are the bane of lawless corruption in Nigeria predicaments?

Regarding the ABOBAKU, I presume he did not enjoy along with the Monarch talk less of having to be buried with him. That is barbaric destiny.

Where ‘re those pastors in the Oduduwa kingdom? They are there sitting down and things are getting uglier day by day. Where are those who called themselves men of God or men of Satan? Why are they not going openly going against evil plot by this yoruba barbaric and obsolete tradition that this generation can not be taken in any form of shape or manner. All men were born equal. No one should be a slave to any goddamn men. Those involved should be charged crime against humanity. Why can’t they use their own children for the burial? Why using poor people in the name of stupid deity or tradition… Idiotic people…. This is why #BIAFRA must come because we are on parallel to other tribes. We don’t have common value system of life.
