NSCDC Boss Commends Team Nigeria

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Dr. Ade Abolurin congratulates team Nigeria in the just concluded All African Athletics championship held in Morocco as well as the Commonwealth Team from Glassglow for their shining performances. He said the personnel of the Corps who participated made Nigeria proud as well as the service in general.

According to the Commandant General, the Corps personnel that represented Nigeria in the Commonwealth top the medal table as well as those in the All African Athletics Championship who won 3 gold medals, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze out of the total medallion won for the nation in Morocco, which is a good record to be commended.

He reiterated that, the Corps in several outings at national and international levels have made the nation proud by winning medals that always put the nation in the table of winners.
He stressed that, the nation have a lot of sports men and women that can made the country proud at all times if they are adequately motivated and their talent harnessed.

The Corps in complementing the effort of the Sports Ministry, usually hunt for professionals in different fields in order to harness their talents and prepare them for the nation irrespective of their background, religion, and tribe.

Abolurin further stated that, the Corps will keep encouraging the talent hunt especially among the youths so as to discover more and prepare them for the future.

He stressed that for athletes and other sports men and women to perform creditably well, they need to be encouraged and appreciated in every outing made for them to feel challenged. The recognition by government to host and support them is a morale boaster that definitely will propel them to work hard in making the nation proud in subsequent outings by winning more medals for the nation.

Also, he stated that there is need for constant training and retraining of the athletes ahead of their tournament and not to wait until when the competition is by the corner to avoid fire brigade approach; “when players train together they understand themselves and adopt a common strategy of defeating their opponent”, says Abolurin.

As a professional athlete, who at one time or the other had represented Lagos and Ogun State respectively in various tournaments, opined that ones in a while athletes and those in other sporting activities should be made to review their various outings and competitions in order to identify grey areas with a view of making corrections in their future outings.

He urges the team Nigeria to keep the nation flag flying at all time in all their tournaments in order to make Mr. President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and the people of Nigeria proud of them.
