Dutch FA Announces Hiddink As National Team Manager; Nistelrooy & Blind Named As Assistants

The Dutch FA (KNVB) has announced Guus Hiddink as manager of the Netherland’s national team after months of speculation. This will be the 67-year’s second spell in charge of the Dutch national team.

Ruud van Nistelrooy and Danny Blind have also been announced as assistants for Hiddink. A two years contract which will see Hiddink and his assistants in charge until EURO 2016 has been sealed.

Jaap Stam has turned down the possibility of working under Guus Hiddink. The Dutch FA is currently holding talks with current goalkeeping coach, Frans Hoek.

Aside the Dutch National team, Guus Hiddink has also managed PSV, Fenerbahce, Valencia, Real Madrid, Chelsea (interim basis), Anzhi and the national teams of Australia and South Korea.

As National team coach of Netherlands, he will be expected to qualify for EURO 2016 from a group including Czech Republic, Turkey, Latvia, Iceland and Kazakhstan.
