Gov. Murtala Nyako of Adamawa on Monday commended the people of Yobe for the success of Saturday’s local government elections in the state.

The governor said this in a statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Malam Ahmed Sajoh, in Yola.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) conducted the council polls which the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the seats.

The governor said the turnout of voters and the peaceful conduct of the election had laid to rest doubts about the possibility of conducting 2015 general elections in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa.

According to Nyako, “the massive turn out of voters and the peaceful manner the process was conducted has proved all sceptics totally wrong about the possibility of conducting 2015 election in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states “.

The statement urged those it called “Abuja Politicians” to stop misleading the presidency, INEC and security agencies about the real situations in the affected states.

“Furthermore, the successful conduct of the local government elections in Yobe has proved beyond any doubt that those flying the kite about non-conduct of elections in our states in 2015 are just playing out an agenda aimed at disenfranchising us,” it said.
