Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said that the desperation to remove former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 led to the insecurity ravaging Nigeria

0

The 2023 Labour Party Vice-Presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said that the desperation to remove former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 led to the insecurity ravaging Nigeria today.

Datti Baba-Ahmed made this statement on Tuesday, when he featured on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

“I contested with the late former president Muhammadu Buhari in 2011. But ever since he made a security threat comment, I refused to go out with him.

“It didn’t matter if I lost the Senate seat, but I won it eventually. Buhari said, you [will all be] soaked in blood. Kaduna is my state. There was serious violence in Kaduna. Many houses were burnt.

“They went and brought people from neighbouring countries in readiness to remove Jonathan,” he stated.

Alt text: Several individuals gathered around a table, each with a laptop, engaged in a discussion about a sales proposal.

A unique value proposition (UVP) clearly outlines the benefits of your products or services, showing how you meet customer needs and stand out from competitors. It’s essential to integrate your UVP into every part of your marketing and sales strategy, ensuring customers immediately grasp the distinct advantages you offer.

Leveraging customer feedback, market research, and competitive analysis will help you craft a resonant UVP. This clarity not only boosts your brand message but also enhances your sales proposal, as well as your team’s ability to share compelling stories that persuade potential customers in a crowded market.

Leveraging Social Proof to Build Trust and Drive Sales

Social proof is a crucial tool in consumer decision-making, influencing the choice of products and services. Testimonials, reviews, and endorsements signal trustworthiness and quality to potential buyers. Embedding customer success stories in marketing materials can give prospects confidence to choose your product.

User-generated content, such as social media reviews, also plays a vital role in building trust. Businesses can leverage social proof by partnering with well-respected individuals in their industry, who align with brand values and resonate with their target demographic. Media coverage and industry awards can also serve as social proof, enhancing a company’s profile and setting it apart from competitors.

Enhancing Customer Experience to Foster Brand Loyalty

Customer experience (CX) is a critical factor in today’s consumer landscape, as it influences brand loyalty and repeat business. A seamless and pleasant CX at every touchpoint can lead to increased brand loyalty and repeat business. Listening to customer feedback and making adjustments is essential for improving CX. Prioritizing customer needs and consistently exceeding expectations creates memorable experiences that encourage repeat business.

Personalization is another key element, tailoring interactions based on preferences and past behavior to make clients feel valued. Investing in training for customer service teams can also help resolve issues effectively, leaving customers with a positive impression of the brand. This, in turn, can lead to positive reviews and testimonials, which are crucial in attracting new business.

Implementing Data-Driven Marketing for Precision Targeting

Data-driven marketing strategies optimize marketing efforts by providing precise targeting and personalization. By analyzing customer data, businesses can gain insights into buying patterns, preferences, and behaviors, enabling tailored campaigns. Data analytics can also identify high-value customer segments and predict market trends, allowing for more efficient resource allocation. Understanding which campaigns resonate best with specific demographics can improve ROI.

Focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs) aligns with business goals is crucial to make informed decisions and drive sales growth. The use of machine learning and AI for data analysis can reveal patterns and insights that may not be apparent through traditional methods, providing a competitive edge by predicting customer behavior and customizing offers in real-time.

Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations for Market Expansion

Partnerships are a powerful tool for growth in new markets or customer segments. By collaborating with other companies or organizations, businesses can leverage each other’s strengths, share resources, and tap into established customer bases. Joint ventures or cross-promotional deals offer mutual benefits without the full market entry costs of solo expansion. These collaborations can enhance innovation by bringing different perspectives and expertise.

When selecting a partner, ensure alignment in values, customer demographics, and business goals. A seamless partnership should add value to customers’ experience and have clear communication and shared objectives. Offering additional services or products through partnerships can enrich offerings and differentiate businesses in a crowded market.

Overall, excelling in a competitive market requires a mix of ingenuity, technology, and customer-centric thinking. By understanding your unique value proposition, leveraging social proof, enhancing customer experience, utilizing data-driven marketing, and forming strategic partnerships, your business can not only survive but thrive amidst competition. By implementing these strategies, you can build a strong foundation for sustained sales success and long-term growth.

President Goodluck Jonathan has the legal right to run for the 2027 presidential election under the provisions of the 1999 constitution

0

A legal luminary, Monday Ubani, SAN, says former President Goodluck Jonathan has the legal right to run for the 2027 presidential election under the provisions of the 1999 constitution.

Ubani made this known on Tuesday, while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television.

Ubani stated that his position was based strictly on constitutional interpretation and judicial pronouncements and not on political preferences.

He said, “I want to say this, that my personal opinion, the legal interpretation of the eligibility of the former president clearly is not a validation. Whatever opinion that I express is not a validation of whether I want him to run for the presidency of Nigeria 2027.”

The senior lawyer further maintained that previous court rulings had affirmed Jonathan’s eligibility, stressing that the constitution does not restrict him from contesting.

While recalling Jonathan’s emergence as president following the death of former President Musa Yar’Adua in 2010, Ubani clarified that his initial assumption of office was not through an election but by constitutional operation.

The legal luminary further noted that Jonathan’s first elected term began in 2011 and that court judgments had consistently upheld his right to seek re-election.

Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai: What exactly constitutes ‘negotiations with bandits’?

0

This is my response to the unfortunate statement from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the fake, but predictable hot air from Kaduna, following my live television interview on Channels Television last night.

As usual, the combined voices of the Government of Kaduna State (KDSG) and ONSA, instead of responding to the core issues I raised, seek to deflect responsibility by alleging that exposing them amounts to politicizing security. As a person whose three siblings served in the Nigerian Army and the Airforce, with one of them rising to the rank of general, I have and will continue to appreciate and honor the memory of our citizens in uniform who have made sacrifices for Nigeria. I will also continue to appreciate the immense work that continues to be done by gallant officers of the military and security agencies.

It is a well-known fact to discerning Nigerians that the face of the politicisation of national security for politically intended purposes resides, for the first time in our recent history, in the ONSA under its present leadership. If the ONSA thinks Nigerians are not following its unclear and incompetent management of terrorisim and banditry in Northern Nigeria and beyond, in collaboration with a certain senator, also from the North, then it is high time it carried out an in-depth evaluation and review of its actions.

We are not the first to reveal the government’s ongoing greasing of the palms of non-state actors in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Kebbi, and other states. No matter how incompetent in security matters he may be, the National Security Adviser cannot be oblivious of videos and audios of traditional rulers, community leaders and religious leaders condemning the payments made by the state to bandits. The attempt at denial falls flat as many citizens in the affected states have been following the counter-replies by community leaders and clerics on the issue of government paying bandits.

We spoke the minds of distressed communities across Nigeria who are victims of banditry and terrorism, and who are watching with pain the way and manner the ONSA, which ought to be discreet and purely carry out intelligence coordination, is now deeply involved in lousy protocol and public relations duties along with politically inclined security management at the expense of the expertise of trained professionals.

This charade by ONSA is being done gleefully at a steep cost to the finances of the country and the ethical fabric of our society. The constitutional, legal and patriotic duty the government owes on security is to better support our military and security agencies with more resources like personnel, equipment and technology, rather than further endangering the country by mollycoddling bandits.

What exactly constitutes ‘negotiations with bandits’? Why is non-kinetic approach to addressing banditry and criminality equal to withdrawals of huge amounts of money from state treasuries and handing them over to bandits and terrorists? Which officials and their intermediaries deliver this money, and how much personal withholding tax do they apply before delivery of the funds? Who are the most prolific purchasers of prime real estate in Abuja in the last two years and what is the source of their new-found wealth? These are questions many discerning citizens are demanding answers, while officials of ONSA and KDSG are focusing on protocol, propaganda and international junkets!

If one may digress a bit, it is trite to ask KDSG and ONSA that after the much-publicized negotiations with bandits in Birnin Gwari in the presence of the Governor of Kaduna State and representatives of ONSA, did the bandits not kill five citizens in the same Birnin Gwari LGA, Kakangi Ward, in particular last month? Have there been no kidnappings and killings in Kauru, Kajuru, Chikun, Giwa, and, lately, Kudan and Makarfi LGAs? How many of the six ISDB-financed Science Secondary Schools that we completed before leaving office have admitted student because of the improved security that KDSG and ONSA have miraculously achieved? The parade at the ONSA of ‘rescued victims’ whose families usually frown at the narrative of being ‘rescued’ after they have paid ransoms is another unfortunate propaganda and official falsehood. At least, Nigerians followed the drama of the family in Zamfara State who paid a ransom to secure the release of their loved ones, while the middlemen of ONSA claimed to have ‘rescued’ them.

The Kaduna State Government is obviously disappointed that the recent revelations by SaharaReporters and SBM Intelligence have shattered the false facade it had presented on kidnapping and other security issues. In response, the state government chose to quarrel with the data which it knows to be true because it has consistently tried to suppress information on security incidents from reaching the public, by muzzling or inducing the local media not to report such.

In contrast, our administration was so confident that it was doing its best as a subnational to address security issues, indifficult circumstances, that it published quarterly and annual security incidents reports. These reports contained data on various types of security incidents, and these were presented without any attempt to distort the data, no matter how grim. The current government seems not to realize that citizens can easily see the dissonance between their security circumstances and the whitewashed version coming from an increasingly distrusted and incompetent government.

The recent political gathering of senior federal government officials in Kaduna to reel out President Tinubu’s success in the North saw the ONSA parading senior military and security officers to address the political gathering. This amounts to the same politicization of security personnel that the ONSA purports to disdain. In the megalomania of the National Security Adviser, every attempt to hold him accountable is politicization of security, every perceived enemy of his is a security risk, and every critic of a purportedly democratic government is unpatriotic.

What a shame! In the same Kaduna, over a month ago, the ONSA and their Kaduna collaborator twisted an initiative of a foreign country to provide aid to indigent citizens into a narrative of donating houses to the victims of banditry in the state. Nigerians should dig deeper into that story and also visit and verify if the said victims are currently occupying those places after the politically-inspired media stunt. The ONSA and KDSG are hereby challenged to also publicize the location and details on how they are carrying out Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration of the so-called repentant bandits.

As Governor of Kaduna State for eight years, we worked with two Ministers of Defence, one National Security Adviser, two Chiefs of Defence Staff, three Chiefs of Army Staff, two Chiefs of Naval Staff, two Chiefs of Air Staff, two Chiefs of Defence Intelligence, four Inspectors-General of Police, and three Directors-General of the State Security Service (DSS). This is aside from several General Officers Commanding, Air Officers Commanding, Commissioners of Police, State Directors of Security, and military commanders at state levels. Our appreciation for the sacrifices made and still being made by our military and security officers is deep.

That is why we speak out about those saddled with immense responsibility two years ago who seem to view security management as a persistent exercise in propaganda and make-belief, and as cover for diverting public funds and abusing power with impunity. Neither the ONSA nor the Kaduna State Government can stop the exercise of constitutional rights to associate with others, have meetings, express opinions and alternatives to the fictitious narrative of officialdom. They are advised to concentrate their efforts on solving security issues, rather than seeing in the misery of affected citizens opportunities to claim false glories and divert and squander funds. Insecurity is the menace they ought to eliminate, not opposition voices and platforms. The repeated haranguing by the KDSG of some of its own officials and some security agencies for not disrupting visits and meetings in Kaduna by certain prominent persons is well-known.

The thuggery unleashed against the ADC meeting of Saturday, 30 August 2025shows that those harangued government officials and some officers of security agencies have succumbed to blandishments to sponsor and enable violence against those that legitimately oppose their government. Why is this not attracting the attention of the ONSA as a major security issue? Is it until it leads to anarchy due to total politicization of policing in the state?. National security is a very serious matter, critical to the peace and prosperity of the country, and the safety and wellbeing of citizens. It is unpatriotic to disguise incompetence in understanding it, much less managing it, as media stunts. In managing difficult circumstances, I recommend a new message to ONSA and its sidekick in Kaduna and elsewhere, the admonition by an African patriot of old: “tell no lies, claim no easy victories.”

May Yul-Edochie demands N1.5bn over alleged cyberbullying, online defamation

May Yul-Edochie, also known as Queen May, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has issued a cease-and-desist notice to her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, and a United States-based woman, Yinka Theisen, over what she describes as cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and defamation.

Acting through her legal representatives, Graylaw Partners, Queen May alleged that both individuals made several damaging on-line publications against her on social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and Facebook.

She said the posts had caused harm to her reputation and business interests.

In the letters addressed separately to Ugwuonye and Theisen, her lawyers demanded that they stop making such publications, withdraw existing posts, issue a public apology, and publish a retraction on all platforms where the statements were made.

Queen May is also seeking financial compensation of N1 billion from Ugwuonye and N500 million from Theisen.

Her lawyers further alleged that Ugwuonye had not acted well in his past dealings with her, including in the handling of confidential information.

They warned that his conduct had worsened the situation and exposed her to further harm.

The letter to Theisen similarly accused her of amplifying harmful narratives online and encouraging others to circulate them.

The legal team stated that failure to comply would leave Queen May with no option but to commence civil and criminal proceedings to protect her rights and reputation.

The notice to Ugwuonye expressed concern that he had, in the course of that relationship, gained access to privileged information which, according to her lawyers, he later used in ways that undermined her interests.

The letter described such actions as a breach of trust and professional ethics, stressing that his conduct had aggravated the harm to their client.

Similarly, the notice to Theisen accused her of amplifying harmful online narratives about Queen May and encouraging third parties to circulate the same content, thereby deepening the reputational damage.

Both letters set a 48-hour deadline for compliance with the demands. Her lawyers warned that failure to act within the timeframe would compel Queen May to initiate both civil and criminal proceedings.

Kaduna State Government has issued what it described as a final warning to former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of plotting to destabilise the state

0

The Kaduna State Government has issued what it described as a final warning to former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of plotting to destabilise the state under Governor Uba Sani.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, Mr El-Rufai said the federal and Kaduna governments paid billions of naira to bandits as part of their non-kinetic measures to end insecurity, a claim debunked by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) on Monday.

On Monday, in a strongly worded statement signed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Suleiman Shuaibu, the state government said it would not “fold its arms and allow a discredited former leader, who left the state in ruins, to ignite chaos and plunge the state into another era of ethno-religious tension, insecurity, and economic stagnation.”

“The Kaduna State Government is compelled to issue this unequivocal and final warning to a former Governor of the State, Nasir El-Rufai, who, through a calculated mix of overt provocation and covert manipulation, is plotting to unleash mayhem across Kaduna State in a desperate bid to destabilize the state and drag it back into its dark and violent past,” the statement said.

According to the government, Mr El-Rufai “cannot stomach the progress Kaduna is making under the administration of Governor Uba Sani,” which it said had moved the state from “the brink of collapse” to a “beacon of hope, unity, and development.”

It linked Mr El-Rufai’s actions to electoral setbacks suffered by his allies, saying: “These victories… were a verdict on El-Rufai’s legacy: one of exclusion, division, and destruction, and an endorsement of the current administration’s focus on peace, prosperity, and inclusion.”

The government also condemned a political meeting convened by the former governor on Saturday, which it claimed “descended into violence, including gunshots that endangered innocent citizens.”

Regarding Mr El-Rufai’s comments on banditry, the statement said: “These are not mere words: they are calculated, malicious lies designed to undermine security efforts, incite public anger, and legitimise criminality.”

It added: “The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has rightly debunked these malicious claims. On the contrary, both the federal and Kaduna state governments have repeatedly urged Nigerians never to pay ransom and have committed to pursuing justice through coordinated military and community engagement strategies.”

The statement further accused Mr El-Rufai of “pitting the people of Southern Kaduna against their brothers and sisters in the North” during his eight years in office, contrasting that with Governor Sani’s “healing, dialogue, inclusion, and sustainable development.”

The government also warned that “No individual, no matter how highly placed or previously powerful, will be allowed to destabilise the state. The peace of Kaduna State is non-negotiable. Anyone who dares to threaten it, be it Nasir El-Rufai or any of his accomplices, will be held accountable.”

In Katsina, bandits roam freely with weapons

0

A peace dialogue held on Monday in Kankara town, Katsina State, with suspected Fulani bandits has raised concerns among residents over the continued possession of arms by the group.

Some community members expressed worry that, despite reconciliation talks, some of the bandits still move freely, carrying weapons.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, questioned the rationale behind negotiating peace while armed men were left unchecked in communities.

“Peace cannot be genuine if bandits are allowed to retain their weapons and operate among civilians,” the resident said.

The concerns intensified after videos surfaced online showing armed men riding motorcycles in the area, openly displaying weapons.

The footage, which has since gone viral, has further fueled doubts about the sincerity of the peace process and the safety of residents.
