How Mrs. Shimite Bello Love Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export was killed

0

Mrs. Shimite Bello Love (née Nwakalo), Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, has died under circumstances that have sparked serious suspicion and controversy.

Popularly known as Madam Sabificate, Shimite allegedly died of poisoning on Easter Sunday.

Family sources told newsmen that her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, has been arrested by the police following allegations that he poisoned her. Witnesses claimed she was foaming at the mouth before her death.

The late adviser reportedly passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital, Asaba, where she was rushed for emergency treatment.

Shimite, who contested the Oshimili North constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly during the 2023 PDP primaries, had previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency during Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration.

She was also the Group President/CEO of the Quintessential Group—a conglomerate comprising NGOs, social enterprises, and companies operating in agriculture and solid minerals.

A family member, who requested anonymity, told newsmen that Shimite was in good health just a day before her death.

“I spoke with her for over an hour on Saturday. She was vibrant and told me about a meeting she had earlier attended. Nothing was wrong with her,” the source said. “On Sunday, I sent her Easter messages, but she didn’t reply—which was unusual.”

According to the source, the family’s alarm was raised when Shimite’s maid called her elder brother, expressing concern that the husband had locked Shimite in the house all day.

“Her brother rushed over and found her inside the house with foam already coming out of her mouth. He took her to the hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival. The police were immediately called and arrested her husband.”
Family members allege that Shimite’s husband had isolated her from loved ones and tightly controlled her movements.

“Since he came into her life, he cut everyone off. Her brother couldn’t even visit. He wouldn’t let her go to the office. He was always trailing her. Even the name on all her properties in Abuja and elsewhere was changed to his name. We believe she was manipulated—hypnotised even,” a family source said.

“If she were not hypnotised, which woman with her right senses would do such? What kind of love is that your husband would follow you everywhere you went, and you wouldn’t see anything wrong with that? Your husband would lock you in and not allow you to go to the office?
“Anytime you tell Shimite about certain things, she would tell you, ‘Don’t worry, my husband is a pastor. He’s my spiritual father. He sees everything.’ It’s very unfortunate Shimite had to learn the hard way. How could a special adviser to a governor just die like that?”

Sources close to the family described Pastor David as “overprotective” and “jealous,” and suggested he was intimidated by Shimite’s prominence and beauty.
“The man had nothing before meeting her. He only came to drain her. It’s heartbreaking.”

Efforts to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, were unsuccessful, as his mobile line was unreachable at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Shimite’s body has been deposited in the mortuary as police investigations into her death continue.

Love Shimite, the Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Trade and Export, has passed away

Chief Love Shimite, the Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Trade and Export, has passed away.

She died in the early hours of Easter Monday after what sources described as a brief illness.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, Mr. Bright Edafe, said Shimite was confirmed dead at the hospital where she was taken.

Edafe also revealed that her husband has been placed in protective custody, not under arrest, following threats reportedly made against him.
According to Edafe: “He (the husband) was the one who called to report that his wife died early this morning and that he was receiving threats from her family, who feared he might be attacked. It was on this basis that we went to his house and brought him in for his own safety.”

However, Edafe disclosed that the deceased’s family later lodged a formal complaint with the police, expressing suspicion that the husband may have had a role in her death.

He added: “We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes.”

The police say further updates will follow as investigations progress.

Nnamdi Kanu family, has cautioned the Federal Government over alleged false narratives and media manipulation against the detained IPOB leader

0

The family of the detained Biafra agitator, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has cautioned the Federal Government over alleged false narratives and media manipulation against the detained IPOB leader.

The family noted with concern that the false narratives and media manipulation are orchestrated against Kanu to tarnish his image during the trial of terrorism charges filed against him by the same government.

In a statement on Sunday in Abuja, the family cited the recent barrage of alleged fabricated stories in the Nigerian media, accusing IPOB of crimes and insecurity in the South-East, as another attempt to link Kanu with violence.

The statement categorically stated that the media manipulation always came up each time Kanu’s court date drew nearer to portray him in a bad light before the judiciary.

Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of the Biafra nation agitator, signed the statement on behalf of the family.

The statement read: “We, on behalf of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and his family, write to address the relentless and orchestrated campaign of misinformation being peddled by the Nigerian government through sponsored adverse media coverage.

“This deliberate effort seeks to falsely link IPOB to alleged insecurities and crimes in the South East, with the clear intent to influence judicial proceedings in Abuja courts and tarnish Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s reputation before the international community, particularly as his next court hearing approaches on April 29, 2025.

“The pattern is unmistakable and predictable. Each time Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s court date nears, a barrage of fabricated stories floods Nigerian media, accusing IPOB of crimes and insecurity in the South East. Recent examples include:
“The latest being: “Police nab three suspected IPOB members, recover N10.3m in Imo”, “Police arrest three suspected IPOB members, recover N10 million”, “Police raid IPOB/ESN hideout in Imo”, “3 arrested as police bust IPOB hideout in Imo”.
“These reports are parts of a calculated media blitz designed to manipulate public perception and prejudice the judiciary against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“This systematic defamation is not only an attack on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB but also a grave assault on justice and fairness.

“We unequivocally condemn this manipulation of the judiciary and demand that it cease immediately.

“The hypocrisy of this media campaign is glaring. While peaceful IPOB is relentlessly vilified, the Nigerian media and authorities remain conspicuously silent on the rampant atrocities committed by Fulani herdsmen, who have been publicly acknowledged as waging a war of conquest against indigenous populations across Nigeria.

“These killer herdsmen, responsible for wave after wave of brutal killings, face no comparable police raids or media scrutiny.

“Why is there such an obsessive focus on IPOB while the real perpetrators of insecurity are neither held accountable nor subjected to the same level of adverse publicity?

“To address this injustice and uncover the true genesis of insecurity in the South East, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s family calls for the immediate establishment of a joint panel of investigators from the United States and the European Union.

“This independent body must be tasked with conducting a thorough, transparent, and unbiased investigation into the root causes of insecurity in Igboland and identifying those truly responsible.

“The Nigerian government’s reliance on false narratives and media propaganda to influence judicial outcomes and discredit a high-profile case like Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s is a dangerous precedent that undermines the rule of law and erodes public trust in democratic institutions.

“We urge Nigerians, the international community, and all advocates of justice to stand against this orchestrated campaign of defamation and demand accountability.

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB are committed to a peaceful struggle for self-determination, and no amount of media manipulation will deter this just cause.

“We call on all well-meaning individuals, organizations, and governments to support our demand for an independent investigation and to ensure that justice prevails in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case.”

Four Children abducted in Delta

0

The Ogwashi Uku community in Aniocha South council area of Delta state was thrown into confusion following the abduction of four children.

The children who were abducted in mysterious circumstances include a six-year-old girl, Ebube Nwafido, and her sister, Miracle, aged three, both of the same parent, and two other girls, Chimanda, a seven-year-old, and Excel alias Tinubu, a five-year-old, also of another parent.

Reports from the area said residents of Umuokwe quarters, where the crime was committed, are pointing accusing fingers at three women who secured emergency accommodation in the neighborhood as suspects last Monday.

Sources said the women allegedly lured the children on Friday, pretending to buy them biscuits from a popular supermarket in the community.

The Guardian gathered that when the children and the other two could not be seen around the compound after some time, neighbors expressed concern. By the time they visited the ladies’ apartment, neither the occupants nor the children could be found, as the room was empty.

The father of Ebube and Miracle, Kingsley Nwafido, and his wife, who are heavily traumatized, expressed shock over the sudden disappearance of the children.

Delta Police spokesman, Bright Edafe, said the matter is being investigated.

Vatican celebrate Easter Mass, papal blessing remains uncertain

0

Uncertainty surrounds Pope Francis ability to deliver the traditional Urbi et Orbi (To the City and to the World) blessing to tens of thousands of believers in St Peter’s Square.

Due to Francis’ health issues, as he recovers from pneumonia, the Mass is expected to be celebrated by a high-ranking cardinal, the Italian Angelo Comastri.

The Vatican is set to mark Easter Sunday, the highlight of the Christian calendar, with a large Mass at St Peter’s in Rome.

The 88-year-old was able to leave the Gemelli Hospital in Rome four weeks ago after spending more than a month in the hospital.

However, he still needs to take it easy following his life-threatening illness, under doctors’ recommendations.

During his few public appearances since his discharge, he sometimes appeared very weak.

Speaking also poses difficulties for the leader of the world’s more than 1.4 billion Catholics.

Earlier, on Saturday evening, Francis appeared in a wheelchair in St Peter’s Basilica.

At Easter, according to Christian tradition, the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ are commemorated.

This year, the festival holds even more significance because the Catholic Church had declared 2025 a Jubilee.

Pope Francis had originally intended to be present at these important events.

This weekend alone, an estimated 1 million visitors were in Rome, including believers from all over the world, among them is U.S. Vice President JD Vance.

The deputy of Donald Trump, who converted to the Catholic faith in 2019, plans to attend Easter Mass with his family.

Bishop Kukah says Nigeria is slowly turning into a vast national morgue due to incessant killings and widespread violence

0

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation.

In his Easter message delivered on Sunday, Bishop Kukah warned that the country is slowly turning into a vast national morgue due to incessant killings and widespread violence.

He lamented the scale of human suffering across the nation, describing the current climate as marked by “a culture of brutality and savagery never witnessed in the history of our dear country.”

Kukah used the metaphor of the crucifixion to illustrate the extent of national pain, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene and rescue citizens from what he termed “this cross of evil.”

“Mr. President, we all admit that you neither erected this cross nor initiated our collective crucifixion. However, Nigerians have been left bleeding and dangling on this cross of pain and mindless suffering for far too long,” he said.

The Bishop condemned the increasing frequency of kidnappings, killings, and other forms of violent crimes across the country, stating that no household or community remains untouched by the wave of insecurity.
“A dark pall of death hangs languidly from north to south. Every day, innocent citizens are kidnapped and held under the most inhuman conditions. Nigeria is reaching a breaking point,” Kukah warned.

He further criticized the government’s approach to economic hardship, particularly the reliance on palliative distributions, which he said erodes the dignity of citizens.

“While we agree that removing fuel subsidies was a necessary decision and acknowledge the availability of more domestic resources, the reality is that farming has become one of the most dangerous occupations in Nigeria for over a decade. Mere palliatives are insufficient. What Nigerians need is sustainable access to food and security,” he stated.
Calling for urgent reforms, the Bishop urged President Tinubu to enshrine food security as a fundamental human right.

“Make food security a constitutional right for all citizens. Mr. President, please bring us down from this painful cross of hunger,” he appealed.
Despite the grim picture, Bishop Kukah encouraged Nigerians to hold on to hope, reminding them of their collective responsibility to drive out the darkness engulfing the nation.

“The structural deformities, iniquities, and corruption of our country must not be an excuse to lose hope. We are the light of the world, a city set on a hill. With the light of Christ, we can build a society that reflects the will of our Creator,” he said.

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed says Tinubu cannot get ahead without the North

0

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has confirmed his resignation as special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on political matters [Office of the Vice President].

Speaking to the public for the first time after his resignation, Mr Baba-Ahmed said the Northern region will develop a direction ahead of the 2027 general election.

He also warned against rigging the 2027 general election, saying it might be the end of Nigeria.

Mr Baba-Ahmed stated this shortly after the Wedding Fatiha of his daughter in Zaria.

Seated beside the former executive secretary of the NHIS, Prof. Yusuf Usman, the Northern leader said, “You know I just recently resigned. So I’m yet to make public comments. But if I’m to speak, you would see similarities of thought between me and Prof. Usman.

“What he [Prof.Usman] has been saying and advocating are similar to my position even before I accepted this appointment.
“But what I can say for now is that it’s only the North that can rescue itself. Northerners must wake up and caution themselves.

“We must be wary of treacherous and selfish politicians. We must do away with anything that would divide us.

“The current situation affects everybody, whether you are a Muslim, Christian, Bajju, Fulani, or Mangu—everybody is affected,” he said.
He lamented that the current situation is similar to what was happening before the Buhari administration came on board.

“We have experienced this similar situation even before President Buhari came to power. Boko Haram were detonating bombs in mosques, churches, Abuja and Lagos,” he said.

He said whoever intends to seek the votes of the North in 2027 must come out with a clear-cut blueprint on how to salvage the region.
“There is no politician that would come and dictate to us the direction to follow. Who are you? Nobody would accept that.

“You have to tell us what you intend to do for us and practical ways to carry it out.
“Our eyes are wide open; Buhari spent eight years, and now we have another government, and everything is screaming.

“So does it mean we don’t have privileges other than to be crying all the time? We are also citizens of this country. We want a government that understands our problems and knows how to solve the”, he said.

“So the issue of Arewa is a very broad conversation. I know for a fact that in the next six months [Insha Allah] you will see a very big movement and alignments in the direction Arewa would take ahead of 2027.

“Whether other parts of the country would go with us or we go alone, but what is certain is that nobody becomes president of Nigeria without the North.

“And I know for a fact that the [current administration] would regret the disrespect and ill treatment meted out against us.

“Unless they want to conduct a terrible election to cheat us – and rigging the 2027 election might be the end of Nigeria”, he warned.

Mr Baba-Ahmed said he expected every northerner to have taken a hard lesson from the current situation of the country.
“With the current situation in North, I believe it is time for everybody to open their eyes, unite and find a pathway.

“Whether the whirlwind would come through groups , individuals or coalitions, I don’t know, but I believe if the ordinary citizen had made mistakes in the past and voted for someone because he hailed from the north or because some few individuals from the north said power must return to the south, that is all over now. We need a good leader who will take us out of our challenges,” he added.
