A former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Frank Nweke (Jr), Sunday declared his intention to contest for the Enugu East senatorial; district seat in 2015.

While former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, former Governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, and immediate past governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaraoke Nnamani had variously held the position between 1999 to 2011, the position, is currently being occupied by Senator Gilbert Nnaji, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Communication.” The former minister, who is presently the Director-General of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) told journalists in Enugu that his decision to join the Senate race was borne out of his desire to provide quality representation to people of the zone.

“I believe I am eminently qualified, and have what it takes to represent the good people of Enugu-east senatorial zone at the Senate come 2015.

“I also strongly believe that I have what it takes to become the most effective and vibrant senator Enugu-East senatorial district would ever produce, if given the opportunity to serve in 2015,” he stated.

He used the forum to call for free and fair elections in 2015, insisting that “with due respect to all those nursing the ambition for the seat, it is the electorate of the area who would decide who will represent them at the upper chamber of the National Assembly in 2015.”
