Biography

Olu Jacobs fully named Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs is an award-winning actor who has featured in so many local and international movies. He was given birth on the 11th of July, 1942 in his hometown, Abeokuta in Ogun State.

He spent most of his early years in Kano where he went to Holy Trinity School and was a member of the drama and debating society.

His interest to join the movie industry started when he visited one of the annual concert parties of the late Chief Hubert Ogunde at the Colonial Hotel, Kano, Kano State.

Olu Jacobs is one of the oldest actors and producers in the Nollywood industry. He was born on the 11th of July, 1942 and so he is presently 79 years of age and approaching 80 years of age.

Olu Jacobs’s Wife

The name of the wife of Olu Jacobs is Joke Silva whom he got married to in the year 1989. Several questions have been raised as to why Joke Silva retains her name rather than making use of her husband’s name, Jacobs.

Olu Jacobs cleared the air that she is her individual and he met her as Joke Silva in the movie industry. He further stated that, while she is Joke Silva at work and to her audience, she is Joke Jacobs at home.

Olu Jacobs and his wife, Joke Silva gave birth to three children, two sons, and a daughter. The sons are Olusoji and Olugbenga Jacobs while the daughter is Dayo Jacobs.

Having spent over five decades in the movie industry, Olu Jacob has directed and featured in so many movies, over 200, both locally and internationally.

He began his acting career in England in the ‘70s before finally settling in the Nollywood industry starting in the early ‘80s. He has gone ahead to feature in The dogs of war, The goodies, Vigilante, and Dear sister, among so many others.

Olu Jacobs has won several career awards both locally and internationally including National Honors as a member of Federal Republic (MFR) in 2011, City People Movie at the Life Time Achievement Award in 2015, and Lifetime Achievement Awards along with his wife, Joke Silva at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in 2016, among others.

His long years of activeness in the movie industry alongside business and endorsements have helped him to amass so much wealth. He has a net worth valued at around 3.5 million US dollars.

Olu Jacobs Sickness

Sadly, according to a statement by Joke Silva, the veteran actor is said to be presently suffering from dementia with Lewy body which is a disease that affects the brain.
