Doyin Okupe feared dead

Doyin Okupe, the former Director-General of Peter Obi’s 2023 Presidential Campaign is reportedly dead, according to multiple sources.

A source quoted the family to have confirmed the death of the Okupe who had served as a senior adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Okupe was 71 years old at the time of his death. It was gathered that he was battling a protracted illness suspected to be cancer until his death.

In October 2023, Okupe was hospitalized with prostate cancer and was flown to Israel for treatment.

However, it was learnt that his condition did not improve as he and his family expected.

Okupe was first diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago and later developed sarcoma in his right shoulder.

The ex-presidential aide and former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), served as the Director-General of Labour Party Peter Obi’s 2023 Presidential Campaign.

In December 2022, he stepped down from Obi’s campaign after a money laundering conviction.

He would later resign from the Labour Party after the 2023 general elections.
