Former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua’s son marries ex-Comptroller General’s daughter

Ibrahim, son of Former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, married the daughter of former Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede.

The nuptial knot was tied on Friday.

Umaru Musa Yar’Adua (1951-2010) was a Nigerian politician who served as the President of Nigeria from 2007 until he died in 2010. He was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and won the presidential election in 2007. Yar’Adua’s presidency was marked by efforts to address corruption and improve the country’s governance.

However, his time in office was also overshadowed by health issues. He had a long history of chronic illness, which led to concerns about his ability to govern effectively. Yar’Adua spent a considerable amount of his presidency receiving medical treatment abroad, and this raised questions about the transparency of the government and the succession of power.

Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s death occurred on May 5, 2010, and his passing prompted a political crisis in Nigeria, which eventually led to the then-Vice President Goodluck Jonathan assuming the presidency. Yar’Adua’s presidency left a mixed legacy, with his efforts to combat corruption and improve governance being contrasted with concerns about his health and the political instability that followed his death.
