In November 2021, Pastor Nomthi died of cancer. Pastor Taiwo Odukoya announced the death of his wife on 9 November, saying that the South African “battled cancer for the better part of two years”.

He gained admission to study petroleum engineering at the University of Ibadan (UI) in 1976. Taiwo Odukoya graduated from the university in 1981.
Career
Prior to going into full-time ministry, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, after completing his National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme in April 1982, worked as a petroleum engineer with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for 12 years until his voluntary retirement in January 1994.
