Uba Sani is a mechanical engineer and politician elected as the governor of Kaduna state during the March 28, 2023, gubernatorial election.

Age

Sani was born on December 31, 1970. He is currently 52 years old and will be 53-year-old by December 31.

Tribe

Senator Uba Sani was born in Zaria local government area (LGA) of Kaduna state.

Education

After obtaining his primary and secondary school leaving certificates, Uba Sani attended Kaduna Polytechnic to study mechanical engineering until the HND level.

Sani also holds a post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) and obtained a Masters Degree in Finance from the University of Calabar (UniCal) in Calabar, Rivers state.

Political Career

Uba Sani was appointed as special adviser on public affairs to the president during Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration in 1999.

He also worked in some advisory roles to the then FCT Minster, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, and later served in the Kaduna State Ministry of Housing and Works.

In 2011, Sani contested in the People’s Democratic Party primaries for the Kaduna Central Senatorial seat but he lost the primaries.

In 2015, he was appointed by the Kaduna state governor Malam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai as the Special Adviser, Political and intergovernmental affairs.

However, in 2019, Sani showed interest and contested the second time for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat under the ruling political party, All Progressives Congress, APC, and was elected senator during the February 2019 Nigeria general elections.

In 2022, Uba Sani picked up APC nomination forms for the 2023 governorship election in Kaduna state, and won the primaries.

Sani also won the 2023 governorship election conducted in the state after he polled a total of 730,002 votes to defeat his closest rival, Isa Ashiru of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 719,196 votes.
