Dikko Umaru Radda is a Nigerian politician and the 2023 governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina state.

Age

Dikko Umaru Radda was born on September 10, 1970. He is currently 52 years old and will be 53-year-old by September 10, 2023.

Dikko Radda was born in Hayin gada town, Dutsin-ma local government area of Katsina state.

Family

He is married to Hajiya Fatima Dikko Umar Radda.

Education

Dikka Radda started his formal education at Radda Primary school from 1974 to 1980.

He proceeded to Zaria Teachers College between 1980 and 1985.

Radda would later attend Kafanchan College of Education in 1986-1990, where he obtained his NCE certificate.

He joined Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi in 1992-1996, where he completed his B-Tech.Agric Economic and Extension (Hons) studies, then he got admission into Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1998 -2004, where he obtained MSC in Agric Extension and Rural Sociology 2004.

Dikka Radda returned to ABU Zaria in 2005 to obtain a master’s in international affairs and diplomacy. He completed his PhD in Agriculture and Rural Sociology in 2015.

Career

He was a schoolteacher between 1989-1999. He worked as a banker with the defunct FSB World Bank between 1999-2003.

He was the Chairman of Charanchi Local Government of Katsina State between January 2005 and April 2007.

Dikka was appointed Chairman of Charanchi Local Government Committee in May 2007.

The other positions he holds are; Senior Assistant to Members of Parliament, NASS, Abuja, 2012-2014, Secretary of Public Welfare (APC), June 2014-July 2015.

He held the traditional throne of Gwagwar Katsina in Katsina Emirate and was appointed as Chief of Staff of the Governor of Katsina State.

Radda is the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

President Muhammadu Buhari re-appointed Dikko Umaru-Radda for the second time as the chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency in Nigeria (SMEDAN).

The announcement came from the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapha, in a document dated March 12, 2021.

Dikko Umar Radda formally joined Nigerian politics seeking the seat of Katsina State Governor, in the politics of 2023.

He handed over to Wale Fasanya as SMEDAN chairman on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, after winning the Katsina State Governorship primary election under the APC party.

Achievements

On 12th December 2005, President Olusegun Obasanjo awarded Dikko Umaru Radda, Chairman of Charanchi LGA, the most outstanding local government chairman in Nigeria.

The colourful event took place at Shehu Musa Yaradua Centre, Abuja.
