Meet Gbenga Ezekiel: Teenager Who Set New Guinness World Record in Rope Skipping on one foot.

A new record was set by a 16-year-old Senior Secondary School 1 student of Ijapo High school, Akure, as he set a new world record of skipping on one foot.

Two years ago, when Ezekiel was 14, he could not participate in the Ondo State Rope Skipping championship as senior students dominated it. Ezekiel was disappointed, but that couldn’t kill his zeal to try again.

Through the two years before setting the new world record, the teenager was under the tutelage of the Nigeria Rope Skipping Federation technical chairman, Chubuisi Ukandu, who discovered his zeal and mentored him through the process.

It is two years later, and Ezekiel is now a senior student and more experienced. He decided to try to storm the global scene to show further how capable he was.

With the necessary document forwarded to the appropriate quarters, Ezekiel erased the record of the previous holder of the record, Rasel Islam of Bangladesh, who did 262 skips in one minute.

With about four certified judges and timekeepers to witness the groundbreaking record, Ezekiel achieved 265 skips on one foot in one minute.

“The most skips in one minute on one leg is 265 and was achieved by Gbenga Ezekiel (Nigeria), in Akure, Nigeria, on 31 October 2022. The attempt took place at the Akure stadium,”  As reported on the Guinness World Records website.
