2023: Lagos Labour Unions dump LP, endorse Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu

The leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC, in Lagos State, have endorsed the 2023 presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for second term in office.

They disclosed their alliance during the rally, organised by the unions, tagged ”Labour4Sanwo-Olu”, held at the Police College Parade Ground, Ikeja.

The Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Lagos State, Agnes Sessi, said this is the first time that labour in the state would come out to endorse the candidate of any party.

Sessi said that the Labour Unions had been sitting on the fence but now wanted to have a say in polity, by supporting Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s second-term re-election bid.

She said that 60 per cent of the people of the state are workers and that they have endorsed the governor and his deputy to return for another four years in office.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Trade Union Congress (TUC), Gbenga Ekundayo, said that democracy is about inclusion and that the governor has a listening ear and has been accommodating.
