Meet Oshi Agabi: The Nigerian Who Created A Device That Can Make You Immortal

Published

on

Oshiorenoya Agabi is a Nigerian entrepreneur who created a tool to detect explosives and cancer cells. The tool known as Koniku Kore is the first device in the world to fuse live neurons derived from mouse stem cells into a silicon chip.

Koniku is a Yoruba word from Nigeria, meaning immortal. Denotatively, Koniku is a Yoruba word from Nigeria that means immortal. The device can detect explosives and cancer cells by incorporating a chip that combines living genetically modified brain cells with traditional silicon because silicon alone is insufficient for processing and interpreting data from the human smell.

This, put together, makes Koniku a powerful device that can drive one to immortality.

Mr Agbadi believes that the sense of smell in dogs, which can be used to detect terminal diseases or explosives, can be cloned as a process on the neuron-based chip as a smell-enabled robot at security checkpoints and public arenas.

The invention aims to “build a truly cognitive system” within five to seven years using artificial neurons (a combination of neurological and biological materials and silicon).

Agabi was raised in the Surulere neighbourhood of Lagos, Nigeria, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Lagos.
