Controversy

Tate’s house in Pipera, Romania, was raided by police on April 11, 2022, after the US embassy informed them that an American woman was being held there. Two women were discovered at the property, claiming that they were being held against their will, prompting an investigation into human trafficking and rape.

Both brothers were released after five hours of questioning. Tate later denied any wrongdoing, calling it a swatting incident.

On December 29, 2022, Tate’s villa was raided again, as was the home of a former policewoman suspected of being involved. Prosecutors stated that they had discovered and identified six women being sexually exploited by the suspects in various locations throughout Bucharest, including being coerced into filming pornography.

Tate, his brother, the former policewoman, and an unidentified fourth Romanian were interrogated and detained for 24 hours. The four people are suspected of human trafficking, rape, and involvement in an organised criminal group.
