Megan Jovon Ruth Pete popularly known as Megan Thee Stallion is a Grammy-winning American rapper and songwriter

The award-winning female rapper is signed to 300 Entertainment in 2018, where she released the mixtape Fever and the extended play Suga both of which reached the top ten of the Billboard 200.

Pete began uploading videos of herself freestyling on social media while a student at Prairie View A&M University. A video of Pete competing in a “cypher” against male opponents quickly went viral and it earned her a digital presence which rapidly grew her social media followership

She delivered a confident, commanding performance that drew a lot of attention. Megan’s mother took over as her manager as she rose to prominence.

Megan released Fever in May 2019, and it debuted at number ten on the Billboard 200.

She released “Good News,” her debut album, in November 2020.

Megan’s EP Suga was released in 2020, and she directed the video for “Captain Hook,” one of the EP’s songs. 

She won Best New Artist at the 2021 Grammy Awards. She also won Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for her remix of Beyoncé’s “Savage.”

She signed an exclusive first-look deal with Netflix on December 16, 2021, to create and executive produce new series and other projects. Megan co-starred in A24’s first movie musical, F*cking Identical Twins, which has been described as “a spin on The Parent Trap,” on February 17, 2022. She also appeared as a fictionalized version of herself in the Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Controversy

Megan was allegedly shot in both feet by rapper Tory Lanez in July 2020 as she exited a car they’d been in together. She denied the shooting at the scene, fearful of police brutality, but later provided an account of the incident. 

Tory was later found guilty and is likely to face a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in prison also stands the risk of deportation to his home country of Canada after serving his sentence.
