Nigerian music star, Oladapo Oyebanjo, stage name D’banj has been released by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) almost 72 hours after he was detained.

NewsWireNGR earlier reported that famous singer, D’Banj, was detained by the ICPC for alleged N-Power fraud worth over N100m.

According to recent reports, D’banj was released on Friday afternoon with possibility that the ICPC might summon him later.

His lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said the singer cooperated with the Commission during its investigation.

Mr Olajengbesi noted that Dbanj was released on self-recognition but didn’t confirm if the ICPC granted the singer administrative bail.

He also stated the ICPC didn’t trace any evidence of fraudulent activity to the singer.

“Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to Dbanj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him,” he was quoted by PremiumTimes.

Meanwhile, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has pledged to support the ICPC in its investigation on alleged fraud in the N-Power Programme.
