Biography

Faze, real name – Chibuzor Oji is a Nigerian singer and actor. 

He was born on the 7th of March, 1977, in Festac Town, Lagos. Faze is 45 years old as of 2022.

The popular musician was a member of the defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz.

Faze has won numerous awards in the course of his successful music career. He is also an actor who debuted with the movie Alero’s Symphony in 2011.

He also composed the film’s soundtrack, earning him an Achievement in Soundtrack.

Education

Faze attended Nazareth Primary School and Festac Grammar School, Festac Town, Lagos, before heading to  Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. To acquire a bachelor’s degree.

Career

After winning the 1994 DBN Karaoke competition, Faze launched his first publicity campaign. 

Prior to joining the Plantashun Boiz, Faze performed as a rapper under the name Lyrical Orge. He released his debut solo album, “Faze Alone” in 2004.

The hit singles of the album “Faze Alone,” “Angel Gabriella,” “Miss U,” and “Na True.” attained several top music rankings.

The album established Faze’s unique music style, “universal flavor,” which combines R&B, Reggae, Pop, Dancehall, Ragga, and Soul with an African undercurrent

His sophomore album, “Independent”, was released in 2006.

In 2008, Faze’s third studio album, “Originality,” was released, containing several hits like “Am In Love” and “Spend My Money”

Faze finished and released their fourth album, “REFAZED,” in 2012 and in 2013; he added two new songs to his discography, “Ifeoma” and “Lambo.” In response to the single releases, the singer simultaneously released music videos for each song. 

Faze has shared the stage with foreign performers who have gained international recognition, including Wyclef Jean, with whom he co-wrote the song “Proud To Be African.”

Faze has backed well-known and reputable company names, including Star on the yearly Star Trek Event, Globacom on the National Globacom Campus Storm, Guinness on the Guinness Extra Smooth Discovery Shows, and Sprite on their talent development competition for kids, Spriteball.

Faze is a signee of Westside Records. In 2006, he launched his record label, Independent Entertainment.

Faze is reportedly married, but there are no public details about his marriage.
