PHOTOs: King Charles III officially appoints Rishi Sunak as UK’s PM

King Charles III has on Tuesday (October 25, 2022) officially appointed Rishi Sunak as the new prime minister of the United Kingdom.

This was disclosed in a terse statement by the Royal Family earlier in the day.

The statement reads; “The King received The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP at Buckingham Palace today.

“His Majesty asked him to form a new Administration. Mr. Sunak accepted His Majesty’s offer and was appointed Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.”

42-year-old Sunak is the youngest UK PM since 1812.

He became the Leader of the UK Conservative Party on 24 October 2022 few days after Liz Truss announced are resignation as the country’s PM.

This position which qualified him to become the United Kingdom Prime Minister.

Prior to this position, he was Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022 and Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020.
