Joke Silva is an award-winning Nigerian actress, producer, director and entrepreneur.

She was born on the 29th of September 1961 in Lagos. Joke Silva is 61 years old as of 2022.

Joke is a co-founder of Lufodo Group, and the pioneer Managing Director of Malete Film Village, in association with Kwara State University.

The charismatic actress is married to fellow Nollywood colleague Olu Jacob, and they match up to being one of the hottest couples in the Nigerian movie industry.

After her elementary education, Joke Silva proceeded to Holy Child College in Lagos for her secondary education, where she obtained the West African Senior School Certificate.

Joke then headed to the University of Lagos, where she bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in the English Language before heading to the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, the United Kingdom, where she studied drama.

Joke started her career with the National Television Authority (NTA).before heading to the theatre for acting.

She professionally debuted in Nollywood in a movie titled “Mind Bending” before featuring in other films like Owulorojo in 1993 and Violated in 1995.

Her acting prowess in these movies paved the way for her invitation to get featured in a British-Canadian film – The Secret Laughter of Women in 1998, alongside Colin Firth and Nia Long.

Joke Silva co-starred in Keeping Faith in 2002 with Bimbo Akintola, who later credited her as a big influence in her career. Joke Silva co-produced and appeared in The Kingmaker with Olu Jacobs the same year, then A Husband’s Wife in 2003, and Shylock and A Past Came Calling in 2004.

So far, the veteran actress has more than 250 movies to her name.

Silva was appointed a goodwill ambassador by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in October 2012 with a role focused on fighting human trafficking in Nigeria, in accordance with the UN policy of enlisting notable personalities in art, music, film, athletics, and literature to aid with their campaigns. Silva was appointed for a three-year term.
