Lagos teacher arrested for allegedly sodomising 11-year-old pupil

On Monday, an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court remanded a 28- year-old teacher, Mohammed Algoni, to Kirikiri Correctional centre for allegedly sexually molesting his 11-year-old pupil through the anus.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi, refused to listen to the defendant‘s plea.

She then ordered him to be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional centre until Sept. 28 for the Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.

The defendant, who resides at 29, Akinwunmi St., Ifako Gbagada, Lagos, is tried for sodomy.

The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offence was committed in June at Ifako, Lagos.

Akeem said that after the victim, an 11-year-old boy in an Arabic boarding school, came home for Sallah break, he told his mother that he wasn’t returning to school again.

Akeem also said that the victim told his mother how the defendant, who is one of his teachers , has been sexually penetrating through his anus.

The prosecutor said that the offence was reported at the police station and the defendant was arrested.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
