Biography
Douglas Jack Agu (p.k.a Runtown) was born on August 19, 1989, is a singer, songwriter and producer.
The 33-year-old singer has a diverse musical style, a mix of, rap, hip-hop, R&B, and reggae.
After moving to Lagos from Enugu State with Phyno in 2007, he started doing underground collaborations with artists like J-Martins and Timaya.
In 2008, he partnered with Phyno to form a record label called Penthauz during which he released his first two singles: “Party Like It’s 1980” and “Activity Pikin”.
He became a famous face in the industry after dropping his debut single, Gallardo, featuring Davido.
At the 2014 Nigerian Entertainment Awards, Gallardo earned the Collaboration of the Year Award thanks to its enormous success.
His first album was released afterwards, which featured topclass artiste like DJ Khaled, Phyno, Wizkid, Uhuru, and Anatii, and generated over 35 million in turn over on MTN Music Plus, placing him in Nigeria’s “Top 5 Most Streamed Artists.”
After the success recorded by his debut album, he then released other singles, Mad Over You and For You, in 2016, which took over the trending wave of the Nigeria music industry at that time.
Education
After completing his secondary school education in Abuja, Runtown attended St. Augustine’s seminary Ezzamgbo.
He then later travelled to New York City in the United States of America where he studied Fashion Management at a fashion school in New York City the United States of America.
Relationship
Runtown and Selena Leath started a relationship in 2015. Selena Leath, who is a model and an actress, has made appearances in a number of music videos. The couple are blessed with a son, Zamar.
He later got into a relationship with South Sudanese model Adut Akech, which ended due to irreconcilable problems. The pair decided to part ways in July 2021.
Net worth
Runtown is not only a musician, but also an investor in a number of Nigerian small businesses. This enables him to make a sufficient amount of money to support his opulent way of living.

Controversy
Runtown and Davido ‘Aye’ hit single
In 2014, there were media allegations claiming that Runtown was the owner of Davido’s hit song, “Aye.”
Reacting to the rumour he said “I don’t sell songs; I just write for myself. I don’t know about the claim by some people that I sold the song, Aye, to Davido. It’s absolutely not true. Even Davido would tell you that he did not buy the song from me. Besides, if he bought Aye from me, what about his other songs; did I sell those ones to him too?”
Fraud allegation
In 2019, an online source reported that a US-based woman, Shawn Rene has accused the musician and his brother of defrauding her $124,000.
Rene posted videos, screenshots, and receipts on social media to support her claims.
Backing her claim, she said, ‘I wrote him two checks in two companies’ name, $32,000 and $107,000, after he got the checks and cashed he started saying stories, later on, he started saying they would pay after Runtown’s show in Canada, I and my fiancée couldn’t have it because, we never invested on anyone’s music, I even had to come down to Kenya just to be certain my fiancée wasn’t involved, and even arrested the Alex, and after investigations and all we found out it was jack, his brother and wife trying to play a fast one on us, his wife claimed they had the money returned to me, which I also have the record of‘.
Runtown denied any involvement in such claiming that some individuals are using his name to perpetrate fraud.
