PHOTOs: Ex-Senate President, David Mark, others in UK Court for Ekweremadu’s trial

Former Senate President, David Mark along with Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, the former Minister of State for Education, on Thursday arrived at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London, the United Kingdom (UK) to observe the trial of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice.

Ekweremadu and his wife were remanded in the UK police custody after they were arraigned before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court for alleged conspiracy to facilitate the travel of David Nwamini Ukpo, alleged to be a minor, for organ harvesting. (READ The Full Story).

The couple, however, denied the allegations and the court adjourned till July 7 for hearing.

NewsWireNGR had earlier reported that the Senate plans to send a delegation on a visit to the former Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu on his arrest in London.

The previous report also noted that the Nigerian High Commission has engaged the services of lawyers in the UK to defend former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu when he appears in court.
