Names of 10 Nigerians sentenced in UK between 2019-2022 and their offences

Below is a list of some Nigerians who have been convicted in the United Kingdom for various offences. The list spans the names of Nigerians convicted between 2019 and 2022.

1. Adeyinka Shoyemi

Mr Adeyinka is a Nigerian living in west London. He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail for encouraging racial hatred and violence in Nigeria using inflammatory messages.

2. Oluwaseyi Elemide, 26

Mr Oluwaseyi Elemide, an accountant admitted stalking a beautician who he failed to impress with his clumsy attempts at romantic poetry and pestered by banging on the windows of her London salon and sending unwanted emails.

Oluwaseyi Elemide, 26, badgered Demi Witter at her Lavender Hill business ‘lash+brow lab’ in Battersea, bringing a gift of tea and a card, banging on the salon windows and following her on Instagram.

Elemide was handed a 12-month community order, which includes 50 hours community service and up to 20 days of a recommended activity requirement.

3 & 4. Timilehin Olasemo, 39 and Olufumi Akinneye, 33

The U.K. Metropolitan Police said in a statement on its website that the convicts Timilehin Olasemo, 39, and Olufumi Akinneye, 33, defrauded the government to the tune of £489,000 under the coronavirus relief “Bounce Back loan” scheme.

They had already obtained £297,000 before the remaining amount was stopped by the bank.

These Nigerians who are residents in London were jailed for forty-three years, for their roles in cyber theft worth millions of pounds in the United Kingdom (UK).

The gang, who are blood-related were among ten persons convicted between March 26 and 28, 2019 for their roles in a large-scale “diversion fraud” scam using hacking software; they used computer malware to intercept and steal the log-in details of email accounts belonging to businesses and private individuals worldwide, with the intent of identifying high-value financial transactions.
