Wizkid records historic win at the 2022 BET Awards

Nigerian Superstar Wizkid made history at the 2022 BET Awards which held on Sunday 26th July 2022 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles when ‘Essence’ featuring Tems and Justin Bieber was announced as the best collaboration.

With the win, ‘Essence’ is the first African song to win a BET award and Wizkid becomes the first Nigerian and African to win an Award outside the Best International Acts category.

Wizkid had previously won the BET HER Award as a featured artist on Beyonce’s ‘Black Skin Girl.’ However, with ‘Essence,’ he becomes the first African lead artist to win a category other than the International category.

Tems Wins Best International Act At BET Awards 2022

Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems, on Sunday, won the Best International Act at the BET Awards.

The hit single from Wizkid, ‘Essence’, featuring her and Justin Bieber also won an award for Best Collaboration.
