Who is Wizkid?

Wizkid whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun is a Nigerian Musician and songwriter under the record label known as Starboy Entertainment. He was born on July 16th, 1990 in Surulere, Lagos states, Nigeria.

At age of 11, he started recording his music with a group known as the Glorious Five.

After winning numerous awards and featuring some of the greatest artistes in the industry today, he’s unarguably one of the biggest afrobeats singers of his generation.

One of the songs that make Wizkid the biggest afrobeats of his generation is a song titled “One Dance” which was released in 2016 by Drake featuring Wizkid.

The song made Wizkid become the number one Nigerian singer to Top the Billboard Hot 100 and also won the Guinness book of record when the song became the most streamed song on Spotify globally.

2. Checklist

The song titled “Checklist” was released in 2018 by Normani and Calvin Harris featuring Wizkid. Before long, the song topped the Billboard World Digital Sales chart and this helped to contribute to the feat of him becoming one of the biggest afrobeats musicisn of his generation.

3. Brown Skin Girl

This song was released in 2018 by Beyonce featuring Wizkid. The popularity of the song made it become the number one on the digital sales chart and this also made him win a Grammy award for the best music video. 

4. Made In Lagos

He released his fourth studio album titled “Made in Lagos” in October 2020 and it was widely accepted by people and which makes it top as the number one on Billboard World Album Chart.

5. Essence

This is a track in his ‘Made In Lagos’ album featuring Tems and Justin Bieber. It became the number one Nigerian song to top the Billboard Hot 100. 

6. Azonto

This song is also one of the most talked-about songs especially as it sparked a dating rumour between him and female singer, Tiwa Savage. The song won the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) song of the year Award in 2019.

10. Pull Over

This song was released by Kcee featuring Wizkid and despite the fact that he was only featured, the song contributed to his achievement. The song also won the Channel O Music Video Awards – Most Gifted Duo/Group or Featuring in 2014.
