Gunmen kidnap DPO in Nasarawa while on patrol, demand N5m ransom

There was palpable tension in Nasarawa as gunmen abducted the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government of Nasarawa State, CSP Haruna Abdulmalik.

AbdulMalik was reported to have been on patrol off Nasarawa Eggon – Akwanga Road at night when he encountered the gunmen around Bakyano.

A family member of the DPO who was quoted by Vanguard claimed the terrorists are demanding a N5 million ransom to secure his release.

Confirming the development, the Deputy Chairman of the Nasarawa Eggon LGA, Eng. Benjamin Kuze said the DPO was kidnapped at about 9 pm in the area in Bakono road, adding that efforts to reach the DPO have not yielded positive results since the incident took place.

Meanwhile, there is no official statement from the police at the time of filing this report.
