Who is Iyabo Ojo?

Born Alice Iyabo Ogunro, Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo is a brand influencer who is popular for her acts in the Yoruba movie industry and outburst on social media.

Age

Iyabo Ojo was born on 21 December 1977 in Lagos, Nigeria. Going by this, she is currently 44 years old and would be 45-year-old in December 2022.

Iyabo Ojo’s parents

Not much is known about the actress’s parents but her father has been reported to be from Abeokuta, Ogun State. She’s the youngest (last born) of three children and has two elder brothers.

Education

She attended the National College Gbagada, Lagos and after graduating, she gained admission into the Lagos State Polytechnic (Laspotech) to study a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Estate Management.

Acting career

She started acting when she joined a drama group at the secondary faculty. Her professional career kicked off in 1998.

Speaking about her acting career in an interview, she said: “so when I had come of age, I went to Bimbo Akintola, after watching one among her films … And advised her that I desired to be an actress and she or he did assist me. Through her guidance, I registered with the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and afterward, she took me around, introducing me to loads of the human beings she knew in the industry.”

Her first role was in 1998’s Satanic, an English-language film. In 2002, she made her Yoruba-language debut with Baba Darijinwon.

In January 2015, her film Silence, which features Joseph Benjamin Alex Usifo, Fathia Balogun, and Doris Simeon, premiered at the Silverbird Cinemas, Ikeja, in Lagos.

Iyabo Ojo started producing her own films in 2004. Her first production was Bolutife, after which she made Bofeboko, Ololufe, Esan and Okunkun Biribiri.

Ever since then, she has featured in over 150 films and has produced more than 14 of her own

Iyabo Ojo got married to her estranged husband and Lagos-based movie marketer in 1999 at the age of 21. She has constantly stated she might drop the name Ojo as her surname.

Although the marriage didn’t last, it was blessed with two children.

Presently, she has confirmed being in a relationship but vowed not to post anything about her new lover on social media until they get married.

Of the two children of Iyabo Ojo, her daughter, Priscilla Ajoke Ojo, is more popular. Her Instagram page boasts of over 2 million followers and she has had her share of controversy just like her mother (more on this later).

She was born on March 13, 2001. In April 2022, she acquired a Mercedes Benz.

Priscilla Ajoke Ojo completed her primary and secondary school education in notable private schools in Lagos Island.

In 2017, she graduated from high school and enrolled at Babcock University where she’s currently studying for a degree in Media and Theater Arts.

She has been rumoured to date some popular celebrities like Kizz Daniel and Lil Kesh.

She also owns a catering business, Spa, and event planning company and was recently featured in a reality TV show, Real Housewife of Lagos.

Controversy

In 2020, she was rumoured to have been set to wed a Nigerian senator, Dino Melaye but was reportedly booted out of the relationship by another actress, Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as Omoborty and popular Kayamata seller, Miwa.
