Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is the governor of Sokoto State in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was born in Tambuwal village in Sokoto state.
Education
He spent his early life in Sokoto state where he obtained his primary and secondary school education.
In 1979, Aminu Tambuwal enrolled at Government Teacher’s college in Dogon-Daji and graduated in 1984 with a Teacher’s Grade II certificate.
Tambuwal then enrolled at Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto state where he obtained a degree in Law in 1991. He was called to the bar as a lawyer in 1992.

In 2003, he was a member of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) where he was elected to the House of representatives.
In the 2007 general election, he crossed to the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) but swung back to ANPP after being denied a ticket by DPP.
He then decided to defect to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the same year. Aminu Tambuwal stayed at PDP for 7 years before defecting in October 2014 to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the preparation for the general elections held in 2015.
He has however returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he aspired for the 2023 presidency but later stepped down for Atiku Abubakar who later emerged as the party’s flag bearer.

In an exposed document obtained from the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state allegedly looted a sum of N189 billion.
It was reported that the Sokoto State Government transaction account received a total cumulative inflow of about N567 billion out of which more than 189 billion Naira was looted and diverted to another account.
