1. Crises rock Rivers, Oyo, Benue APC over gov primaries [Punch Newspaper]

The All Progressives Congress chapters in states including Rivers, Benue, Oyo and Sokoto are currently facing crises arising from last week’s election of delegates for governorship primaries holding on Thursday.

Factional leaders and aspirants on Sunday alleged that elections were not held rather delegates were hand-picked by rival groups.

2. Why Buhari’s not signing Electoral Act — SOURCES [Vanguard Newspaper]

Fresh facts emerged over the weekend suggesting that barring any last-minute success for lobbying, President Muhammadu Buhari may not sign the amended Electoral Act, 2022.

Sources within the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Aso Rock Presidential Villa confirmed over the weekend that President Buhari is disturbed at the huge financial resources being deployed by politicians to woo delegates for the presidential and governorship primaries.

Fazed by the number of money politicians are throwing at potential delegates, a source inside Aso Rock disclosed that part of “President Buhari’s concern is that this type of expensive venture is capable of fueling corruption in the country.”

3. PDP suspends primaries indefinitely in Imo [NewsWireNGR]

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State said it has suspended its primaries for the House of Assembly and House of Representatives indefinitely over an unreconciled list of delegates.

A statement by the PDP legal advisor in the state, Kessinger Ikeokwu, on Sunday, attributed the non-conduct of the primaries to “confusion caused by the National Assembly”.

Mr Ikeoku explained that Imo would not vote along with other states who were now voting with their three-man ward delegates and one national delegate. Read more.

All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirants of Igbo extraction, are in a closed door meeting at the Maitama, Abuja home of Senator Rochas Okorocha.

5. Elumelu emerges candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Constituency [NewsWireNGR]

The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency.

Elumelu was declared the winner on Sunday in the delegates’ election which now makes him the PDP candidate for the 2023 general elections.

The Chairman of the Delta State Electoral Committee, Funkekeme Solomon, declared Elumelu the winner after the vote count. Read more.

6. Buhari appoints Mr Anamekwe Nwabuoku as the acting Accountant General of the Federation [NewsWireNGR]

The Federal Government has appointed Mr Anamekwe Nwabuoku as the acting Accountant General of the Federation.

Nwabuoku’s appointment was conveyed in a letter dated May 20th, 2022 and signed by Aliyu Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning. Read more.
