1. Jonathan submits APC forms Friday, Emefiele shuns resignation calls [Punch Newspaper]

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s backers in the All Progressives Congress on Thursday pressed on with the moves to field the ex-President as the APC’s consensus presidential candidate.

The Fulani group, which on Monday obtained the APC’s N100m presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for Jonathan,  said on Thursday that it would submit the forms on Friday.

2. 2023: Ministers who fail to resign on their own —Presidency [Vanguard Newspaper]

The Presidency warned yesterday that ministers and other appointees seeking electoral offices in the 2023 elections who failed to abide by the presidential directive to resign their appointments latest Monday were on their own.

It also stated that President Muhammadu Buhari would not probe the source of the N100 million aspirants paid to secure nomination forms to contest the presidential elections, inferring that the anti-corruption agencies, such as the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, should be allowed to do their jobs.

3. My life is at risk sharing same detention with IPOB, ESN, Members – Abba Kyari [NewsWireNGR]

Disgraced Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari has cried out that his life is at risk in prison. According to Kyari, being in detention with members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN), whom he described as criminals puts his life in danger. Read more.

4. Islamic State has published a video that shows the execution of about 20 Christians in  Borno State [NewsWireNGR]

The Islamic State (IS) group has published a video that shows the execution of about 20 Christian civilians in northeast Nigeria’s Borno State, BBC reported.

One of the masked militants who spoke in Hausa language during the execution said it was to avenge the killing of the group’s leaders in the Middle East earlier in 2022.

The video was published on an IS-linked news outlet and shows three groups of captives in civilian clothes.

The time of the video and location of execution is however unknown. Nigerian authorities are also yet to speak on the video. Its authenticity, however, was confirmed by SITE Intelligence. Read more.

5. 2023: We’ve more credible candidates from North — ACF; says Jonathan is ‘incidental’ president [NewsWireNGR]

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has denied endorsing former President, Goodluck Jonathan, as its preferred candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

The group also claimed there is a better candidate from the North and even within Buhari’s administration.

A chieftain of the ACF, Alhaji Musa Saidu said this when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday. Read more.

6. Muslim students burn Christian colleague alive over alleged blasphemy in Sokoto [NewsWireNGR]

A group of Muslim students at Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto in a viral gory video on Thursday stoned and burnt a lady alive over alleged blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed.

According to reports, the victim simply identified as Ms Deborah was claimed to have passed unflattering comments about Prophet Mohammed on campus. Sensing danger to her life, she was evacuated to the security post but the mob pursued her there and overpowered the security personnel. Read more.
